Any thoughts on this so far for those who have listened? Initially i was expecting it to be a sick new Daft Punk album where every song would be like Derezzed that would blow my mind. Once I accepted the fact that it was a soundtrack and had to fit in with cinematic elements (i.e. the use of strings) I think it's super sick. Very very well done as far as a soundtrack for this type of movie can go. You can tell that Daft Punk went along with a traditional soundtrack but inserted some of their own awesomeness in each song.

Bottom line: Extremely well done but definitely very clearly a soundtrack to an adventure movie, not a raging new Daft Punk album.

agreed. i think a lot of the hate comes from people who keep forgetting it's a soundtrack to a disney movie.

thomas bangalter has done a soundtrack before but that was to a french art film about brutal rape and murder, not a disney adventure movie about fantasy motorcycles. he could keep a grittier style as seen in homework and it would also work with irreversible but not with tron

typical daft punk style doesnt fit into a movie like this. plus they change their sound every album so people shouldn't expect it to be like their past albums. people hated human after all because it was different from discovery yet everybody loved homework because it was their first album

bottom line is that when i go to listen to daft punk i'll probably put on some stuff from their actual albums but they did a damn good job with this soundtrack and i'm stoked they're still in the game. it's just weird to hear fast-paced hollywood strings in a daft punk song
