Tripple flips

double flips have progressed a lot this year, from being just straight up doubles, to double corks or rodeos with grabs, do you think tripple flips will be done in this same style

well for double flips to start happening people were throwing singles for a long time. triples will come faster but it will still take a while.

What needs to happen first is taking some doubles out into the BC, someone get Rick Worbleski back to show these kids how its done.

yea its just gonna be time before the pros are all doing them, now some non-pro skiers are throwing them. ive seen vids on youtube, so i think its just gonna be a little time before triple flips are nothing special

Triples will just be another fucking olympic arial bullshit idea. Seriously, doubles is pushing it, but triples wouldn't be progressing skiing in the right way (IMO).

yea i agree. sure it can be done, but should it be done? anything past a 540 or 720 just doesn't look nearly as stylish. 60 foot kicker with a 180 grab = amazing. 1440 in a pipe = meh.

I totally agree with this as well. Doubles in my opinion, for the most part, don't look appealing. They are too hucked and don't look very smooth/stylish to me. Triples would be even worse. Granted, seeing Mike Wilson in Push throwing the triple back off the same jump that Rory I believe it was, was throwing double backs, was sick. It's just not something that would progress our sport in the right direction...aerials is not something I am particularily fond of.

we're on pace. as long as freeskiing is versatile though i think it will maintain its identity. hopefully that helps discourage transition into ridiculous aerials.

honestly why the fuck would u want to do a triple flip? thats pure and simple death and confustion

triple flips are so sick, but i dont think they can be corked or grabbed as much because in the air your just flipping as fast as you can, so it would be hard to move yourself in the air as your flipping

I think triple flips would look like some rookie trying to do a flip in Jibberish. too hucked. too gay. To be able to get a grab in would be virtually impossible because u are spinning so fast. Even when you see T-Hall doing double BFs in the back country, he still has to grab the back of his legs to get around. In NO WAY POSSIBLE will triple flips progress freeskiing. If u wanna spin around like the little guy on jibberish, take up aerials.

I think that triple flips are legit. I mean we don't want the sport to become stagnant like some sports are now becoming. progression is always good. personally i would rather see some dubs steezed up but if they want to do some triples thats straight.

A few questions...

Why is hate'n only ok when talking about aerials? (Not my favorite style, but those guys are nuts...)

Why can we only do tricks that are "in style"?

If you're supposed to ski for fun, why don't you just do the tricks you think are fun? (If you wanna bust a tripple, bust a tripple...)

Why do people make fun of tricks they'd never have the stones to try?

i don't think that's the point. people are saying that even if they could do tripple flips they wouldn't do them. it's pretty much impossible to make a spin that fast "styllish". sure some people will be able to land it but how cool will it look? if you can do triple flips more power to you, but i know for a fact that I will never attempt one, and wouldn't even if i had the skill to. I'll stick with single flips and stylish slow spins. do the trips you like, don't hate on the ones you don't, people are just voicing their opinions about in what direction they think triple flips would be progressing.

Good thoughts, Rippy087. Not everyone has to like them. As for progression, it can come from style, difficulty, or creativity. The skiers I respect the most are those that do all three. It's all about being well rounded. I would see triple flips as pushing the sport, but just in a different area. They're sick, just not in the same way a floaty corked 3 is. However, that's my opinion and from the looks of this thread many would disagree.

that's the great thing about freeskiing. Skiing free. Using your creativity to melt some faces and drop some jaws.

If you watch the newest That's It That's All trailer, T-rice does a sick triple flipping twisty thing.
