Tripod Question

Hey M&A I am in the process of deciding wether or not to upgrade my tripod and to what if so. I currently have a pair of legs that don't have a name but are pretty sturdy and a manfrotto 128RC head. I don't really want to upgrade because I have this whole rail system made that would be a bitch to make for a different tripod but I feel like my tripod setup is very low end for what I want to do. I am shooting on an HMC40 and want to shoot skiing and all sorts of other vides including short films. So my question is, is it worth upgrading now? Also should I just upgrade the head or get new sticks and head?

Sparknotes: Should I upgrade? If so just head or sticks and head?
 
If you upgrade would you be willing to sell me that head? I'd really love to and if it sped up youre buying process id be willing to give you almost msrp.
 
Yah we will see and too the above comment it would be worth it to upgrade now? or save and wait a while? also what tripods would you recommend upgrading too?
 
Well like $200 but with Christmas coming up I could try and get some more depending on how mich the upgrade is and what I do with my old tripod...
 
I have a crappy tripod but I get around it by using an elastic to pan the camera, works great try it and then decide if you really need to upgrade
 
Yah I use that pan method too it is just that my head like wobbles on the tripod a bit and I feel like my image me be a bit off center and a bit sideways...
 
i would say for your setup you would need around 300 bucks. a manfrotto 501 head with 055XB legs would work. obviously not as good as an ace or fsb4, but it will get the job done if you really need to a tripod. it sounds like you are kinda hesitating to upgrade. my advice would be save up for at least a sachtler ace, you will be much happier in the long run.
 
thanks and would you say the fsb4 is much great then the ace is in the fsb4 is worth the extra cash and a greater investment?
 
i dont have any expierence with either, but i think someone on here returned their fsb4 because it was just big and bulky. i would say go for the ace, but if you neeed one quick, that wont work beccause it doesnt come out for a few months.
