Tripod help

so bought a dvx100 and need a tripod. Can someone help me find an alright one online for a reasonable price. I'm low on cash so under 150 would be nice.

Thanks ns

I am interested as well.

I would like a decent tripod for as cheap as possible, so i can get stable shots and some panning.

Dont cheap out on a tripod. It's an extremely important tool that will help you in more ways than you can imagine. I'd personally suggest the manfrotto 501 hdv or 701 hdv heads and any set of manfrotto sticks to go along with it. B&H photo sells kits that are in the ~$200 range.

I would like to buy a nice tripod, but the truth is i am a college student with no job, and little money. I really just need a tripod i can USE until i have a job and can afford a better one.

I would highly recommend looking for a used one then. What type of camera will you be using on it? If it is a heavy camera you will need a good tripod regardless, but if it's light you could get by with a semi-cheap one that you can use

Using a T2i with a battery grip.

What used ones or what should i look for?

To OP sorry about the thread jack, but i figure it is helping you out as well.

I also need help with a new tripod video head now. I need one that will support my D7000, the heaviest lens i will be using is a 80-200mm f2.8, but usually nothing bigger than a standard zoom lens. I already have good Manfrotto sticks. So I was wondering if something like this would be enough? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/553886-REG/Manfrotto_128RC_128RC_QR_Micro_Fluid.html

Or would I need to get something better like the 701HDV?? Buying used is preferred. Thanks

This post is for anyone who needs a cheap-ass tripod solution.

Don't waste your time with the 501HDV. it's a good head, but doesn't accomplish the real purpose of a budget tripod... being cheap, but still usable. I have it on a set of 055proXB sticks. great sticks. gonna upgrade the head soon enough though.

Here's a somewhat solution to many peoples problems:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/243272-REG/Davis_Sanford_PROVISTA7518B_Provista_7518_Tripod_w_FM18.html

the davis & sanford fm18 head on the provista 7518. Cheap as it gets, and very usable footage. I'll just jump into a quick pros and cons to outline why many people on this site would benefit from a cheap tripod like this.

cons

- relatively heavy.

- relatively large- the included carry bag makes this manageable.

- I have heard quality concerns with varying units. yours may be a bad unit and need to be warrantied and returned for another. happened to a friend. simple process.

- some (unnecessary) plastic chips, the head itself needs to be tightened every once in a while.

pros

- it's actually a smooth tripod

- it's cheap as fuck

- it's more than manageable to carry, move, use pretty much everywhere.

Everything in this was shot on it:

that should attest for it's usability. this is not a perfect tripod, this may not even be considered a good tripod. but it is EXACTLY what SO many people on this site need and want

^ I think we have different ideas of cheap. 190 is expensive to me,, i know there is alot better. but i am wanting something for like 50 plus or minus. Im in college and have no money, but need a tripod.

If you're gonna drop over 2 grand on a DVX anyways, why not spend a little more for a quality tripod? I just don't understand...

Yikes. Plastic = ending up in the dumpster within a month. It doesn't pan nice, I'm not sure what nie means to you?
I realize you're on a budget, but filmmaking is not budget friendly.

What if i baby my equipment?

I do lots of photography as well, and filming is just for fun with friends, i realize that it is not budget friendly but will i be able to get by with one like this until i can get to a point where i have extra cash to spend? or will i just be miserable with it and waste my money?

And sorry penises that was a question for my self. i would help you find a head but i am not one to ask on that situation.
