so im looking to buy a tripod with a dolly attachment to the bottom of it.

not hard to find, found some that would be good for me.

but im looking for one that comes with a track, either like the dolly has two little wheels on each leg and they could run along say some pvc pipe. or just whatever kind of track would be great to i guess.

so im either looking for something that comes with a track that would be good enough to use in snow. or just a dolly attachment with wheels that could run along some pvc pipe. ive been looking around online but i dont know that many legit sites for stuff like this and i have no photo stores anywhere around here.

also im looking to spend around 250-350 for the whole thing.

i dont want to spend all that much cause money is sort of tight right now but i do want something decent...

if anyone can show me something like this and where to buy it thanks a lot.

you should post this on dvxuser.com. you'll get an answer from someone who knows what they're talking about.

get pvc pipe from home depot or something and then use a board of wood and skate wheels to put the platform on.

i have seen many skate filmers doing this, so i can safely say it works.

if you're willing to put some work in it and you're somewhat handy with tools you can get epic footage that way!

i mean you're gonna safe a ton of money using ols skate wheels and stuff.

if you need some inspiration go on homebuiltstabilizers.com

or search for dlly on youtube, there's good videos too

if you're way handy you can think about building your own camera crane too, and they will probably be like 350 together

imagine the possibilities, mount the crane on the dolly weeeeeeeeeeeee

if you need help i'm working on my own camera crane right now

build it. you can build it as said above or put some thought into it and make it big enough to sit on to better GTS if you are willing to lug it around. Either way, it's super easy to build even a big one, and it will cost you a lot less in the end.

spend good money on a legit tripod and then a little on stuff to make a dolly, not a pre-made dolly.

yeah thanks for the help guys im thinking that would be a lot easier just making it myself now.

as for building a crane yeah that would be super sick too. for the guy above il pm you but im intrested in how your doing that.

i just dont want something super heavy but i guess it has to be durable still what are you making it out of?

You're really not gonna find what you are looking for in that price range unless you build it. You could probably find yourself a pretty decent tripod for like 150 and then build some sort of dolly. Another option is to get yourself a tripod and also something like an Eazy dolly (www.eazydolly.com) They are kind of on the expensive side but so is all video equipment.

yeah thats something that i was looking for. but i can see that its way out of my price range. im just gonna buy a decent tripod and build a dolly

if you're talking about my crane, i am kinda going with the idea of using wires/cables (i don't know what the proper english name for that is) instead of electric motors.

this has two reasons:

1- i'm not an electrician

2- i want to use it outdoors -> no electricity unless i carry a car battery or something with me all the time

the whole thing is gonna be made of aluminium pipe and it will dissemble into pieces not longer than my skis so it will fit in my car easily.

if you want to see what it's gonna look like go on http://www.homebuiltstabilizers.com/greyjibsncranes.htm and click Martin Rhoden's Crane in the fourth row

i hope i helped somebody

oh, just for the case anybody got me wrong, i'm not martin something and that is not my crane, i'm just using his ideas and stuff for mine
