so i'm going to whis for the first time this season for 2 weeks. All i am looking for is info on when the best time to go is. I can go either A) just after Christmas for 2 weeks or B) mid feb for 2 weeks. Accommodation prices don't matter because i'll be staying with friends but i'm really just looking at snow conditions and what not. Any info will help, thanks guys.

i would say mid feb...i know you said after christmas but all of winter break its really really busy. huge lift lines everywhere...stick to feb id say.

christmas morning last season was the deepest day of my life. yea its hella crowded during xmas break, but its gonna be crowded whenever you go. also i can tell you from personal experience i have skied alot more pow in the relatively early season (mid november-january) rather than the mid season (late january-february).

I just quickly ran ANOVAs on Jan versus February and December versus February

I'm 95% confident that there is no significant variation between snowfall in January and February

I'm 95% confident that December does in fact, get more snow than February

So, it doesn't really seem to matter if you choose Jan or Feb, but Dec gets more snow than Feb.

That being said, lines around Christmas times are heinous. Whistler already has bad lift lines compared to the rest of Canada, but things get tracked like a motherfucker around Christmas time if it snows.

a ride? your driving there? or are you a rich torontonian with there own jet??

thanks for the info guys! everything helps!

Rich, Ha. Torontonian, haha.

Naah, I'm just putting a new clutch in my truck right now, as soon as I get a part and put it back together, I'm gone by Thursday.

Offer still stands.

I go during my midwinter break which is around february 20th or so and i have never waited in a long lift line there and everything is always primed

It's a crapshoot. Feb will be less busy than the week after xmas (the 2nd week after xmas is fine though crowd wise). Past 2 years, around xmas has been epic, this past season the first 2 weeks of Feb were pretty dry, second two weeks had a few huge storm cycles (>100cm each storm) and was amazing.

Feb the snowpack will also be setup better.
