I'm hoping to take a trip to British Columbia in the fall to visit an old friend from college, and i was wondering what kind of tips newschoolers had for me, the trip isn't going to revolve around skiing but i am hoping to go to whistler for a day or two. I've never ordered my own plane tickets so i was wondering if there was an ideal time to do so? or if i should buy lift tickets before hand? i am from Pennsylvania and i know this is going to be an expensive trip the cheapest tickets i can find at the moment were about 630 round trip with united air, good? bad?

Absurdly cheap.

You might have better luck on regionals?

Vancouver Island is awesome. Tofino is great, modest cold surfing to be had.You can also see some big ass trees in the rain forest around there. Probably in the rain... Some nice hiking on the island as well, the juan de fuca trail might tickle your fancy, if you have the time you could look into the West Coast trail.

Victoria is nice, but I wouldn't spend much time there. Fairly quiet and quaint.

If you head to the mainland Vancouver is worth checking out. No night life, and a fairly quiet city. But it the weather is nice wreck beach is awesome. Otherwise you can see the typical vancouver tourist stuff.

If you head to Whistler you could check out Squamish en-route, hike the chief like most people. And there is loads of stuff to do in Whis, depending on your budget. Just eat Splitz and enjoy a tasty burger.
