Before about 2 years ago I really didn't know where Cancun was, or what was there. All i knew was that rich kids from elementary school would go there for presidents week, and come back really tan. Even though I later found out it's location on the Yucatan Peninsula, it was obvious that other people were having trouble figuring out just where Cancun is. While waiting in the terminal for the flight to board, I heard a conversation in progress, and luckily I tuned in at the right time. It went like this:
Girl 1- "So what is this flight like 12 hours?"
Girl 2- "No way. Cancun is right in Southern California, so with the time difference, it will be like we're only flying for 2 hours."
1- "I could've sworn Cancun was near europe somewhere."
Other Kid - "Wait, I thought cancun was a resort in Miami."
These weren't young kids either, the two girls were older than me, and the other kid was prob like 14 or 15. Now I didn't know where cancun was 2 years ago, but at least I knew it wasn't near europe.
Our flight didn't leave till around 8:30pm I think, so we arrived in Cancun at about 12:30am. After getting luggage and taking a shuttle to the hotel, we finally checked in at 1:15ish, and were ready to go to bed. At check in I was ready to be dissapointed if I got a red wristband, indicating that I'm under 18 (which I am) and wouldn't allow me to get alcohol. Thankfully the guys at the desk saw the beard and Immediately assumed I was old enough, so the trip was starting out on the right foot.
The next day we woke up a little later at 9:30 and decided just to hang around at the hotel for the first day, and really see what was going on. We found chairs near the pool and hung out there a little bit, and then eventually moved down to the beach. It was pretty crowded, but I like seeing tons of different people, so I was fine with it. There were 4 pools, including a swim up bar which was awesome because I've never been in one before, and it wasn't crowded at all for some reason so the drinks kept coming. Two buffet dining areas were right near the pools and beach so we really just stayed there all day and scoped out the scene I guess. It was a nice relaxing day to start things off.

That night we ate at the hotel and decided to watch karoke and a show they had. Had a few laughs and few more drinks, and just enjoyed the first day of the trip. I had a rough week before christmas with work and school and stuff, so this kind of break was so perfect. Instead of going to the bars and stuff that night, we decided to wait and just walk around and see the area first.
I really didn't know what to expect of the area, I just knew there were some bars and clubs, so when we finally got in to the "hotel zone center" or w/e it's called I was pleasantly suprised. Apparently right after christmas is the busiest time of year, even more than spring break, so the place was just going off. I loved just walking around down the street and seeing stuff go on, and the music pumping, it just made me feel happy. Like I said though, that night we didn't do anything because we just wanted to see what it was like first.

The next day I don't remember much what we did, I think just kinda hung out again and relaxed on the beach. The weather was perfect at about 80-85 and humidity wasn't real bad. The water was 74 or 75 and was a great temperature to cool off and relax in.
That night we ate at this mexican restaurant which was awesome and just totally different from places around my house, so it was a unique experience. There was a mariocchi (sp?) band and everyone was just in a great mood, and happy to be there. Food was good, drinks were good, and the vibe was good. Couldn't have asked for a better dinner.
(Playing my request: Feliz Navidad)
After dinner we headed back to the hotel to change and catch the show, which was like a collaboration of all boradway shows. Wasn't great or anything, but I enjoyed it and it passed time. There's a crew of people that work at the hotel called the "Animation Team," and not only do they do kids activities and games during the day, but a few of them also take people out at night to a selected bar or club. There's an unecessary bus that takes guests from our hotel to a different place each night. The reason I say unecessary is because it seriously took 25 minutes by bus to get there, when it takes no more than 5 minutes to walk. The one way streets and mad traffic were just crazy so it took forever. Luckily, the night we decided to join in and go, the selected club was 'The City' and the girl Kendra from 'The Girl's Next Door' was gonna be there. I really didn't care she was gonna be there because I didn't know who she was, but it sure attracted a lot of attention, and it was claimed to be "the biggest party of the year." So for the price of normal admission to the club we got a bus ride there, no wait in line, and our own section with waiter and bottle service. I've never been to a real club before so I had no idea what to expect, and I had never heard anything about this place.
Well let me tell you, I was blown away. I would never consider myself a club guy just because around here, being a 'club guy' means you're a guido and a dousche (repetitive i know). But this was seriously one of the most fun places I've been to. Not only was the size of the place incredible, but the little shows that went on, and the lighting and music and everything was just awesome. The place was totally packed, but again, I like seeing a lot of people and it was just such a cool place. I also felt good because most of the guys in there cared more about themselves than any girls around them, which worked in favor for me. It was just kind of weird being with my mom and sister and having girls come up to me and stuff, but I just loosened up and everything was cool. I really can't describe how the place was, and obviously pictures won't either, but It was just so crazy and so much fun. Here's a few pics my mom and sister did take though while we were there.
(Set the roof on fire)
The next morning we had a tour booked that went to the Mayan Ruins and then some waterhole thing. I wasn't too excited about this, but my mom wanted to see them and a lot of other people recommended it. It was like a 3 hour bus ride to the ruins, but the bus was really comfortable and there was food and stuff, so it wasn't bad at all. As boring as it may sound, seeing the ruins in person was really dope. The messages behind the building of them and the architecture is just amazing. You could no longer climb up the main pyramid thing, but it was still cool to see it. There's a lot of stuff you would have to be on the tour to hear about, but overall it was a really neat experience.
After the ruins then we went to this freshwater thing that i forget what it's called, but that was also sick. The water wasn't nearly as cold as I expected, and there was a little area like 15 feet high you could jump off of into the water so that was fun.
(Me being a noob jumping)
When we got back from that we just had time to clean up and eat, and then decided to go to Señor Frogs. That was crazy as hell too, and it was just packed with tons of people having a good time. I don't remember too much and I don't think anyone took any pics, but it was definately a good time. O yea one thing I do remember is some guy got up on stage to freestyle and he had an Orage shirt on. If it was someone on here let me know.
(The only pic of the place)
The next (and last) day we just stayed at the beach and pools, but it was cloudy for most of the day. I was still happy though seeing as back home it was raining/sleeting and about 50 degrees colder. For dinner we went to this place called Bogarts Lounge, and that had a real cool vibe. It was a neat design and the food was good too. Unfortnately after dinner we had to get our stuff and be in the hotel lobby by 9:45pm. Our flight wasn't until 12:55, but with customs and stuff we had to be there mad early. Of course the plane got delayed and we didn't leave until around 1:50am, and finally got back home at 5:45ish.
Overall it was an awesome trip and the perfect break from everything back home. There's obviously a lot of stuff i didn't include, but this is just a general outline of what went down. I'd definately reccomend anyone to go there for partying, relaxing, or w/e. I really hope i can go back, but this time with just a friend or two so we can really have fun.
