Trip out west... where to go?!?!

So me and my buddy who ski 100% park on the east coast are planning a trip out west this winter. I went last year to salt lake city and skied Alta, Park City, The Canyons, and Deer Valley. The syle of skiing we are looking for would be NO park and almost 100% tree lines. Last year I enjoyed the varitey of places like Alta compared to The Canyons and Deer Valley. All had really badass tree lines with different types of terrain and trees to ride through.

So here's my question... where should i go this year? My buddy has never been out west and I want him to have the same experience I had last year. I would be down to go back to utah but have also talked about Breckenridge/other colorado places, Whistler, and Tahoe. Like I said, I woud want almost 100% tree lines with powder and a variety of terrain/trees. What would you all recomend.

I went to Breck in hs like 10 years ago, but was all into skiing groomers and shit and I cant really remember how the trees were... I looked at some pics and some trail maps and it seems like Breck is pretty dense in the trees and might kinda be all the same everywhere. Last year in utah I was constantly riding "between" trails listed on the maps straight through the woods and it was badass... thats what im looking for

Jackson hole seems tight, but do you know about the varitey of terrain there? Like if Im crusing through the trees, is every run going to be pretty much the same or will there be a like of differenent stuff. Like in utah last year, some places had nothing but evergreens and weren't very dense, some places had bare trees that were really dense, and some had a mix of everything

If you ski 100% park just stay in the fucking east coast dude or go to breck with all the Texans. If you wanna ski real shit and shred go to big sky or Jackson hole.

Believe me, Jackson has everything you could want, lines that are all trees, lines that are all cliffs, and everything in between. If you get there and there is some fresh snow, It is the sickest place to ski that I have ever been to.

Alright, checked out the trailmap for jackson hole. It looks Very similar to Alta in utah which was badass as hell, but it seems to be all the same... open terrain with a lot of evergreens and not much variety to it.... when i went to alta, i really enjoyed it, but really only wanted to be there one day or two at the most out of a 5 day trip. Maybe salt lake is the place to go since there are several places right there within 30 mins or so.

I took an 8 day trip to Jackson a couple years ago and trust me, there is plenty of mountain to keep you entertained. Plus, you can always head over to Targhee for a couple days if you wanna break it up

Haha the terrain is so diverse at Jackson its unbelievable. But im sure you can get great skiing in in utah so its just a matter of trying something different

Shit sorry I didn't read past the first sentence. But yeah steamboat has killer trees and vail too if you know where to go (although that's not really what they're known for). But still Jackson hole or big sky is all you will ever need.

What are some similar places to The Canyons? I think I liked that places the best as far as tree lines go. Alta was pretty cool too, but its a little too "above the treeline"-ish for me for an entire trip and thats how i feel Jackson hole will be. Don't get me wrong it was sick for one day and was a nice change up though.

The pacific NW has the best pooder in the land. If you come up to crystal mountain in WA, I'll be your free tour guide if you buy me lodge food. =/ If you're going to WA, hit crystal, Stevens, Mission ridge, and if you're in to heli, north cascade heli.

idk man, i would say anything on I-70 is pretty much the best skiing in North America, especially if you wanna do 100% tree lines.....

If you're not open to going to Revelstoke, motherfuckin' Snowbird hands down imo.

Tiger tail will keep your tits soakin' for sure. Long sustained tree runs, lots of snow, far fewer people than the rest of the resort. Basically anything looker's right of the Gad will have you salivating for more trees on the next run. This is me doing just that.

Then you go to Solitude the next day, as fantasy often stays closed until the next day- when the bird is tracked out. Be there when they drop the rope. Not super long runs but some great steepish tree and bowl skiing nonetheless.

Steamboat has some cool trees, but they get skied the fuck out almost instantly.

Breck was cool, but I've had shitty luck with the weather and entitled texans there so I'd rather be in Utah personally and nowhere in Utah is better than the 'Bird imo.

Actually Keystone had some really fun trees off the Outback. I hate to say it but they are a shitload of fun when there's snow. Just watch for ropes, I accidentally skied a closed area because I was skiing trees into it and got yelled at. Also, there's lots of people here too.

Where do you ski in the east?

come out to tahoe. we have tons of resorts here with all sorts of stuff to offer. Theres three good resorts on the south shore, heavenly, sierra, kirkwood and on the northshore there is alpine, squaw, northstar, sugar bowl plus a few others. all of the mountains here offer something different and if your here for a week you could try a new mountain each day. check out all the trail maps for a better look to

Have never been to Jackson or whistler but there on the list.Id go BC wh20, kicking hrse and the Stoke all fit the bill and when the conditions are prime they rock. While it may cost more$$$ to not pre book being able to go where its best at the time is good. IE pretty shitty year conditions wise for most of Yurp last season while western NA was near or recordbreaking.

why not just come to tahoe and stay in incline village where you have plenty different mountains around you

Me and my friend took a trip out to solitude and brighton for 4 or 5 days, best skiing of my life. Both mountains are unreal. they have awesome snow terrain, and are not crowded like the bigger resorts. there is some great skiing there. brighton has a killer park, solitude has crazy terrain.

I dont recommend breck unless you just wanna ski park.

but seriously check out solitude and brighton.

In my experience, I love Jackson Hole, Wyoming! If you want to go back out to Utah I would suggest Powder Mountain and Snowbasin, they are pretty close to eachother. Powder Mountain has an infinite amount of powder and trees, maybe what you are looking for. If you stay outside of SLC, near Sandy, UT you will be in the perfect place to go to alta, snowbird, solitude, brighton, park city, canyons, deer valley. Powder Mountain and Snowbasin are a bit of a drive but definitely worth it if you want the fresh pow and the tree skiing.

Go to Jackson, Squaw, Whistler, Banff, or just go to Colorado or Utah where you are guaranteed a good time. CO and UT are so great because of their quantity and quality of snow. The west coast just gets rained on or receives Sierra Cement, Jackson is in the middle of nowhere in a random ass hick state.

yeeea you're gonna want to go to utah. ski alta/snowbird/brighton and don't even mess with anything in pc.. if you have the urge for park brighton has a fun one.

maybe check out powder mountain or snowbasin if you're willing to drive.

For no park, go to jackson, squaw, whistler, baker or mammoth. If you go to whistler or mammoth though, you could ski park if the snow was shitty.
