Trick Progression

K so a little backround information. I am 17 (18 in 2 months) and have been skiing my whole life, but live in the bay area so I get about 30 days a year.
I am a pretty good skier, but I havnt really gotten into the park. I can straight air pretty much any table top (maybe with some grab) but I can't really do any tricks. I can 180 on small jumps, and 360 sometimes, but its not solid yet.
So this year I would like to do a little more park. In the end I want to take these into the backcountry. In what order should I be learning tricks? which tricks should I do first, which will progress into other tricks?
Also I am not really scared to try stuff, but obviously don't want to get hurt, so might be trying some tricks (like backflip maybe??) in the backcountry.

Thanks a lot.
Sparknotes: the underlined part.

son i was in the exact situation as you! i used to live in the bay and only got maybe 10-20 days a year and then got into park when i was 16 almost 17 years old!
this year im out in utah so its a little different. but whatever you do, LEARN EVERYTHING BOTH SIDES!! one of my biggest regrets.
i'll let turpin tell you the rest.

haha yeah. thanks. I made a backyard set up, and have been doing both ways . I go off to college next year, and all the colleges I am looking at are fairly close to skiing. (washington, oregon, Utah, Colorado) so hopefully I will get a lot of days in.

Well if I where you I would track down the old ski movies like 13,Balance, and some early Volume VM. And use those as your new bible to freestyle skiing, moves like these have a lower tec dif level. You will find your self watching them thinking `man if i watch this a few more times I know I can do that`. Move now are so sick half the time im like what the hell just happend that kid is nuts.
So give that a try, an as you get better start getting newer vids. hope that willl help ya

well I was thinking more what tricks progress into which. Like when your coaching. Which tricks do you tell kids to try first. and after they have that trick what do you tell them to do next???

thanks a lot -jonas

well none the less I think you should still try my last tip for some visual aid.

perfect. thanks a lot.

If I wanted to go in the backcountry and try some flips. frontflips are easier??? I always thought backflips would be (anyone can answer that)

thanks

if your asking me i learned them at momentum the day after turpin was my coachi decided to try them n stuck my first one using cccr (ask turpin or look around if you dont kno what thius is)

This seemed appropriate for this thread.... I just got into park last year and made a lot of progress on jumps and I started doing rails this year and its going very well but at the beginning of this year I commited myself to relearning my spins with grabs and not moving onto a new spin until I can grab the first one (for example being able to grab a 540 before I start doing 7s). Its going well but im wondering if I should be learning unnatural spins at the same time also (for example learning both natural and unnatural 5 before I move onto a 7) ? and same with rail tricks. Is it eaier to learn like that or to just learn everything one way and then come back and learn unnatural spins later. I dont plan on being able to do switch tens or anything but I dont want to be a one way spinner. maybe it doesnt make a difference... just wondering

Just let it come naturally but also push yourself

Whenever I head up to my hill with a list of goals I rarley ever accomplish any but rather different things, Like yesterday I wanted to learn nines but the jump wasn't big enough so instead I learned truck driver 3's and blunt 5's along with other things

Just go with the flow and have fun
