Trekkies?

My teacher today showed us an episode of Star Trek in class (yes, this is a 300 level college course...) and claimed that he was NOT a "trekkie", he just enjoys watching Star Trek. I was under the impression that anyone who likes Star Trek is considered a trekkie. Is this incorrect?

His claim was that since he doesn't dress up all crazy and go to Star Trek conventions, he is NOT a trekkie

i enjoy watching star trek when its on and im bored...but i would not consider myself a trekkie. i would consider a trekkie someone who attends those conventions, wears costumes, ect ect

.

There's a documentary movie about trekkies thats actually really funny, I forget the name now but I watched a bit and thought it was interesting.

And.... Stark Trek is a badass show. If you don't watch it on occasion you're missing out.

Like all tv show fanatics, there are the way out there people. The ones that claim they are a federation, wear uniforms in public ect...they are just freaks.

Im a huge fan of star trek. I know a lot about the shows and the movies. I took moral values and ideas from the show and put into use in my every day interactions. Yet no one knows I love star trek.
