Trax Running Later

Why does trax not run later on Fridays and Saturdays? It makes no sense to me why a public transit system that could decrease drunk driving would stop running at 11:00. The trax could service SO many people on the weekends and at the very least would be helpful in decreasing taxi fare. Is it just the mormons in charge not wanting to give people trying to be safe this service/wanting the money from DUIs or what?

because the only people that ride it after hours are either not paying, have a pass, or are bums (not paying). It's not worth it for them to run it late. they used to run it till 1 one or two nights of the year

I completely understand that it isn't monetarily beneficial, but as a city you would think it would be worth it just for the night life aspect/tourism and most of all to keep people from killing each other

Yeah the last train would leave downtown at like 1230 or something... still stupid. They should just run ONE train that goes south and east at like 130 to take all the drunkards home... i imagine if they regulated the train they'd make money on it, but trax is barely regulated (which is good in most cases).

Salt lake city doesn't really care about nightlife, the downtown, or the city. It's getting better but only because real estate management companies are spending a lot of time to attempt to re-up downtown. The new mall will help some, but without the city behind it and private investors and real estate people helping, the mall will probably fail too.

and thats frustrating as shit.. Its a nice area, and has so much potential, and I feel like they are just fucking the entire area

It's REALLY frustrating. I've lived in SLC for 6 years, and I'm almost over it. the only reason I stay is so many good friends and awesome skiing, besides that the city is SUCH a bummer most of the time. And it really does have a lot of potential.
