Travelling after College

Hello NS, I am trying to plan out the next couple years to do some traveling and exploring after school. I have one year more after this and one to go. Anyone have experience in dropping everything and going places? Also curious on how it affects getting apprenticeships, and starting a career after travel.
 
You have to do SOMETHING cool after you graduate. If you don't, you're wasting a huge opportunity. Once you get a job you will have responsibilities and such, you will never be as free to do what you want with your life ever again. For me, it was ski bumming for a season. It was great to just tell the world to fuck off for a winter, it was exactly what I needed after all the hard work I put in at school. Fuck what other people think, if a company overlooks you for traveling after school they're shitty people that you don't want to work for anyways.

Idk i got a job right after college and i can still do whatever i want, just gotta take time off. Plus i can actually afford to do stuff. i had zero money and loans to pay off after college, no way i could have just taken off and traveled or ski bummed

I didn't have any loans but I was broke. I agree though I needed to work to make $$$. I get 20 personal days a year plus 2 extra for on-call weeks. So, now I have plenty of time and $$ to do what I want. No way I could have afforded to do anything either.

OP, what are you going to do for money? Saving up would be awesome, but how much could you possibly work during school? If you figure it out, enjoy! If your parents are supporting you then I guess fuck it do it.
 
If you've been saving money then definitely go travel, but sometimes it makes sense to get a job for like 2 years right after school, live cheaply, save up some money, and then go travel before starting your next job. It's always easier to find a job when you're already employed
 
It really depends on how you're doing money-wise. If you have enough saved to travel and to cover you until you find a new job once you get back. If you do, go for it. But don't risk it if you don't.
 
Considering apprenticeship/schooling option too. So more or less getting the best of travel, finances, continuing education. My Diesel Mechanics school is partnered with CAT and I could earn money while getting education. Could go to Portland to do this and what free time I do get can be skiing virtually year round.
