Traveling to Europe - Need suggestions

Sooooo this summer i am traveling to Istanbul, Greece, and Italy while taking two high school courses!Pretty stoked for this and I definitely want to bring my camera and film the whole journey but i may have some issues with traveling with my gear.

1. I have a pretty bulky Induro photo Tripod with a 701 Video head on it, which weighs a lot put together. I really want to take it over but i think it will consume too much space in my bag. Should i

A) Buy a $50 shitty manfrotto or a no name tripod that will provide pretty weak support for my 60D and setup,

or

B) Work around my problem with the big tripod setup i have now.

2. I have a shitty LowerPro one strap back-pack style camera bag that gets the job done, but isn't really to useful to carry anything other than my gear. i was thinking about getting a new bag that i can carry around my school shit, laptop, camera, and lens, but wanted some suggestions on what to get, so if you know of any good bags like that, that would be mighty fine.

PLUS K FOR SUGGESTIONS, and i hope all of you have a mediocre to partially good day

Do you need height? you could get a very light and sturdy enough tripod that's only a foot or so high.

Or possibly buy a tripod once you get there, and return it before you leave? this depends on how long you're going.

Plenty of small sturdy tripods exist:

The Leitz tabletop tripod for Leica is crazy expensive for it's size ($ 170,- for the head $ 120,- for the legs.) but it's built extremely well, it won't move at all.

I have the Polaroid copy, same design only a lot cheaper, also as sturdy as the walls of the coliseum.

Gorillapod Focus with ballhead X is also an option. (about 170 dollars, so it's cheaper then the Leitz and more versatile but not as sturdy)

If you really want the length, get a monopod.

hmmmm i need some decent height and but just tall enough and light enough i could carry around, say on my backpack.i will give some of those a look and see whats in my price range!

What's your budget, if I mind asking?

You could graft the 701 head on a monopod, would look rather silly do. :)

$100 or less. I want something that will work well with my 701 so i think monopods are out ahaalso want something good for time lapses, i have a photo ball mount head i want to also use for time lapses and stuff

I had the same problem as you. I ended up getting the Dakine Sequence and it works wonders! It holds all my camera stuff (t3i, 4 lenses and gopro) and i can still put my laptop in there and a small binder. So id get that if i were you!

talk to bmo he went to europe with some camera gear and could probably help you out a bunch

Curtis, I have a dakine poacher and it is super nice. Probably a little bigger than what you're looking for but I was able to fly with it with everything in it including my icu, laptop, goggle case, and jacket
