Traveling Am Contest Series

Many of you may have heard of Trans Am or the So Gnar Shred Circuit. Both awesome snowboard contests that travel to multiple locations through out the year, select a winner at each event, and invite them to a finals event at a large mountain out west. Seems like snowboard competitions like these are common and very successful. There are stops all across the country from the east coast, midwest, Tahoe, west coast and the rockies they really get a whole array of riders from all parts of the country which makes this format awesome. Something skiing lacks and I think it is something big name companies should look into doing in the future! Thoughts is there a similar series already that travels to all parts of the U.S.?

There was the Gatorade Free Flow tour a few years ago that operated like this. Pretty much had a few stops across the country, winners of each stop got flown to a "Championship" somewhere in the West Coast at the end of the season and then the winner of that got a spot in the first Dew Tour stop the next year.

It was a wicked opportunity for kids to get a feel for real competitions but obviously it was not profitable for Gatorade to continue running it.

Soon...

Or not.... IDK.

How about going to 6-10 resorts with 2k in cash and then handing it out during the day for cool tricks/call things out for people. Something fun not like a USSA comp, or whatever they have these days.

More or less what NS did years ago.

Yah that would be amazing.

The Smith/NS PWNED comp that happened at MSLM for two seasons about 5 years ago now was the dopest shit ive ever been a part of. Mr.Bishops standing at the bottom of the course just straight up handing out cash to people who were throwing cool shit is one of the fondest memories I have about growing up skiing. The contest attracted all the best skiers in Ontario and the vibes were all positive, compared to other more structured contests that I've been a part of.

There is a serious lack of competitive, non-organizational I.E. USSA, FIS, FSO (freestyle skiing ontario) etc... contests in skiing.

On that last note I do want to give a huge shout out to Sandy Boville who has brought an epic non-organizational contest to Ontario for the last two or three seasons.

Thats such a cool concept and would be awesome to see happen! Speaking for the midwest/Wisconsin, there is a serious lack of a contest scene in the last 5 years for skiers but all I see is are a bunch of cool snowboard contests always rolling through and its kind of sad as a skiier

This discussion should continue.

Man, that feels super good to hear! I always loved doing that, and I kind of wished we had kept it up.
