Trampoline Back Injury

Ok, I was praticing misty 5's on my trampoline for about an hour or so. Towards the end of the session I got this irritating feeling in my lower/mid back. Im pretty sure it is a pulled/strained muscle. I did this before in the winter and it healed within a week. The first few days, I had pain whenever I stood up/sat down, after a few days there was no pain at all unless I did anytype of jumping or anything like that. Fastfoward 2 weeks and the injury is still at the same stage, no pain accept for demanding physical activity that uses the back muscles. The injury is not causing me any pain, but I can't do anything. I want to practice on the tramp really bad, but I know I should wait for it to fully heal. Has anyone ever dealt with this before?

tramp back.

I made a thread about this a while ago. Basically the longer you jump after first feeling it on the tramp the longer it takes to heal. Just rest it it will heal on its own usually in 2 weeks.

I did a bunch of chiropractor visits and physical therapy after hyper extending my back on a trampoline. If it's not healing on its own that's what I would do. At minimum sometimes they can tell you, hey there's nothing you can really do to make it worse, so just go by how much pain you're in.

When I was in gymnastics, we'd see this all the time. Whether you land funny, or you're just new to trampolines, sometimes you land and your back (sometimes also your knees) can collapse under you and compress a bit. For newbs, its common to see a sluggish jump and the bounce is absorbed, rather than the person really pushing through the bed with a strong body. I doubt this is what you're doing but for anyone out there who is curious, here ya go.

Another way this can happen is if you land and lean back slightly, not enough to fall back, but enough to get a slight arch in your back. Landing like this and bouncy, really puts strain on your back and compresses your lower spine in particular.

Do you have any issues with over rotating your mistys? if you land just a little bit backwards, you'll definitely be in the position I described above. If so, just work on landing slightly more forward so your shoulders are about over your toes. This way you put less stress on your back and you'll be more balanced!

I will get a lower back pain a lot of times when I jump. Not sure why? Must be something about it that screws with your back.

Lots of impact and possibly flaws in technique. It's kind of like how running fucks with your knees over time. The individual strides aren't painful but too much and you'll feel it. That's probably a bad/extreme example.

If you want to be serious about it, there's specific work outs and warm ups for tramp sessions for your back, hips and knees. Most people don't do them nor do most people really need to do them though.

This could change my life. I've been doing it wrong the whole time because a lot of times my back hurts

After enough tramping, you'll eventually build up the muscles in your back enough to not get tramp back. I haven't gotten it since I was like 11 and I do it basically all summer.

Let it heal man and make an effort to stretch and roll out your back twice a day. Same thing happened to me when I fucked up on a rodeo and fell 20ft right to my back. You probably strained your lower back muscles pretty good. These things can honestly take a couple months to full heal, muscles heal very slow. make sure you stretch your back tho and avoid straining it more the best you can. I'd say hold off on the tramp for a while so you're good for the upcoming ski season. If it doesn't get better within a couple months than maybe seeing a physical therapist would be your next step. Muscle strains are not easy a lot of the times.

get a foam roller if you don't have one and role out your back pretty good investment. i use mine alot for shin bang or when i hurt my back .

but prob just landed funny dont worry about it tramping puts alot on knees and back

foam roller roll your back out works great . sometime you land funny and can't do anything about it knowing how to bounce properly is something to learn if you dont already

Work on your core. Seriously, nothing will help fix tramp back like a couple weeks of solid core workout. Obviously after it heals.

Thanks for the thread; my 2nd week in a row of pretty bad lower back pain after 30 min sessions mostly practicing backdrop to 180 and 2/3 front rotation to backdrop. I have been trying to train my glutes and stretch my flexors and quads after jumping. Cheers! I am having fun learning tramp but lower back pain is tough.
