Tramping with ankle weights

....if you want to progress as much as you can, you should worry about training all year long

if doing tricks with weights make it easier to do tricks with skis, he will land tricks without falling as much, and usually have more fun

i wipe my ass with both of my hands. sometimes i fall forward onto my face because i lose balance, and don't bother to catch myself, because ask yourself, who really wants shitty floors?

i havent got into inverted trick yet but i would assume that the weight would help you get used to the altered center of gravity like when you have skis on

But what if i am not doing this just to progress? i'm looking to build stronger leg muscles and core as well as have the feeling of having skis on while doing tricks. the only downside i can see is that i read that you could get stress fractures from it.

ay i already have the ankle weights but a 20 lb set would definitely be too heavy i think you should probably try a 10 lb set

learn how to do tricks on a tramp without any added weight. that way you'll know what it feels like to set a trick properly, and have some sort of idea as to what it should feel like when you're setting it on a jump.

having extra weight on your ankles could create some really bad habits that could result in you getting hurt when you try tricks on snow for the first time.

tramp normally, ski normally. believe me. if you want to try something with skis on, go to water ramps.

Sounds like bad news bears to me. pretty dumb reason to miss a ski season, have fun explaining that on here. Haha

pool noodles --> tramp skis

end of november in pittsburgh... snowpants=almost necessary

I think its an ok idea. I think its better for spins, not flips. Flips are easier to do on skis than tramps almost. Like a backflip is easier on snow. So I would try it for a while, can't really hurt right?

i think some of you are missing the point of what ar6rider said...

skiing is meant to be fun. If you focus yourself so heavily on training and progressing, it eventually becomes work. Don't worry about it so much.

Focus on having fun, regardless of your ability/rate of progression.

work->Payoff

its worth it to work hard and become better, because theres nothing like the feeling of progressing on skis. It pays off.

But i do agree, because skiing is fucking fun, and you should be having fun

getting better is fun, but it's not like I'm setting some long term goals for my skiing. Most of my progression begins with the thought "hey maybe i should give that a try." and goes from there.

but then again, i forget that most people on here are either 1000x more into skiing than i am, or are still valiantly fighting to go pro.

I never had an interest in skiing beyond having fun doing whatever i was doing.

I like the pool noodle idea, i feel like length is just as important as weight for when you bring it to snow

I don't know about trampolines but I know jumping on the ground with ankle weights is extremely bad for your knees.

Bahahhaah. Dude, you're a little anorexic bitch. Try eating a sandwich every once in a while, it might do you well. Who gives a fuck where or what I ski? I can hold my own in the park, thank you, and I'm perfectly happy in the midwest. There is no need to "train" in the off season unless you think you're gonna be a pro. In case you're wondering, there's a 100 pound weight limit on pro skiers these days. You don't make the cut, sorry. Try again next year. Wear extra Jiberish, it might add a few pounds.

Pointless except for the exercise. You don't notice the weight difference going from tramp to snow.

It's a bad idea. Beside the many health risks it really isn't anything like having skis on your feet. Skis are swing weight, ankle weights are just dead weight. When you do a backflip, your skis have momentum, when you do one on a tramp, your feet have none and instead you would have to forcefully throw them over your head. This is same for all tricks. This process would create bad habits which when carried over into skiing will end horribly. I'm all for training but just tramp to get the movements.
