Track and cross country

I take it you're a freshman and have never actuallly run either otherwise you would defenitely know this....

no, track is run on a TRACK, you use spikes, you can't run anywhere but on a track with spikes, thats just common sense, you need two different pairs of shoes

Are you talking about trainers or race shoes??

for trainers you can use them for both track and CC, but you should only get about 500 miles outta a pair (roughly one season) so you'll need new ones anyway when track comes around. I personally like brook Adrenilines (but I over pronate). Go to a running store and get fitted.

For racing shoes, I would not suggest using a track spike for distance. I ran both CC and sprinted in track in high school.

I had two sets of spikes with multiple length inserts dependent on conditions.

For CC I'd go with a mellow distance shoes and maybe some 1/2inch spikes at the most

for track I'd def get a nice sprinting spike with 1/16-1/4 in. spikes at the most.

and it's all personal preference but I preferred the needle spikes on track, and then pyramid spikes on grass, dirt, etc.

Sparknotes: Not really, go to a legit running store and have them suggest something, they know better then you and I do.

well if your long distance in track then just go get a sturdy spike that fits. dont worry too much about the wieght. get something with a heel as well. i know sprinter spikes are cute but not having a heel sucks ass.

not necessarily buddy.... you can get spikes and run on a track, and for xcountry, get thicker and longer spikes....

It really depends on your foot, event you run, and your foots preference. I wore racing flats for most of my races which were mainly distance. The only time I wore spikes was when it was nasty outside for a xc meet or shorter races on the track like 1500 and down. I like mizunos to train in and some adidas since thats what we got for free in college. Hope this helps

yeah I used to do track and cross country and had xc shoes that had holes for spikes and would take them out for xc and put them in for track and it worked perfectly

i ran in with the same shoes for both sports and was fine, get a cross country specific shoe (i used aasics dirt dogs) and then you can interchange the spikes depending on the surface. Do not get a sprint shoes because they have don't very much heel padding since they are made for you to run on your toes.
