Needed my August ski day, so yesterday I made the 4-ish hour drive from Big Sky to the Beartooth mountains:

this was my 12th month of skiing in a row. now i'm ready for some REAL skiing.

Whoa, I'll have to remember not to fill up in Cooke City this week! I almost forgot how ridiculous gas is there.

pretty sure i skied the exact same place last year(your second stop) on july 5th.

any pics of twin lakes headwall or garner headwall?

haha, awesome- thats definately the same spot.

the shot of the melted out ribbon of snow is right by the top of the lift- there were some largish patches, but the snow looked real sketchy

Last years snow year= shit.

This year= epic.

Last year they didnt run the lifts because they didnt think there was enough snow to make it economical, this year they had gratuitous amounts of snow and they didnt run because they didnt have enough capital to make it happen.

its too bad. that would actually be a sweet place to take some laps in the summer if the lift was running. did it run 2 summers ago?

I believe that was the last time it ran. But yes, it is way fun to ski at and they build a few jumps and set up some rails to so its a good time.
