Tourist harrassment

“April 1 is not an excuse for disrespectful and abusive behavior or offensive language or dress. The police department would like to remind patrons of the mountain that bringing alcohol and/or marijuana onto the ski area property, including ski lifts, is illegal. There will be a zero tolerance policy on April 1 for illegal and disrespectful behavior. Anyone asked to surrender a pass on this day due to their actions, will be subject to loss of skiing privileges.”

Fuck that shit.

Don't ski while high or drunk?

Don't be a dick and spray people you don't know?

Would you look at that, problem solved.

hahahahaha. good one.
although I do agree that spraying gapers/anyone you don't know is a pretty dick move. I only spray people when they're sitting in bad places so they know that they're stopping in a bad place.

I mostly spray friends for shits n' giggles, but also shitards that cut infront of me on jumps, and ofcourse they dont do a single trick, nor do they land, leaving me a perfect position to spray them while they're down.

Yeah, it's called Bi-Polar and Anxiety/Stress. If I really wanted to/had to I could ski without blazing, but I would much rather be ripped.

My old roommate once yelled at a tourist couple while driving down main street Breck, "It's not going to last." Their reaction was priceless.

Good thing I'm probably not even going to ride that day.

Not a fan of gaper day. Never have been, never will be. They're just trying to have a good time with their families. They're also the reason our small towns can survive.

I also find it funny how the ones most into Gaper Day are the ones who JUST moved to Summit County. Yeah, because you're all of a sudden a respected local and have the right to make fun of a tourist?

I guess I'm a party pooper. I just feel like if you can't have fun without mocking and harassing people you have some serious issues.

It's not about mocking and harassing people...It used to be WAY different though. The first year I raced with team summit (10 years ago) we dressed up for gaper day. Not to hurt anyone's feelings, but it's fun to do spread eagles in jeans. It's fun to make fun of people. And it is so ridiculously over done now that it isn't even making fun of anyone anymore. It's just people acting like dumbasses. Which is also just a damn good time. It's fun to be immature and do stupid stuff. I don't really think there are many tourists who really mind. Partially because most tourists think it's for April Fools Day not Gaper Day.

I've always seen it as more of a throw back/tribute to the ridiculous 70's/80's ski clothing, more than making fun of actual gapers. But hey, that's just me.

Having fun, dressing in a neon one-piece, shredding max to the hardcore Hot Dog style with your buddies = Fun.

There's no need of hateful yelling, spraying random people or, take this with a grain of salt, to get drunk or high on the slopes in this equation for fun. But do as you must.

gapers exist anywhere there is skiing. I ski at Cascade Mountain in Wisconsin and THOUSANDS flock from Chicago every weekend to ski there. Definitely gapers...

Haha, I know. You're missing the point. They're practically still a tourist themselves. We are all tourists at one point in our lives.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with dressing ridiculous, getting smashed and having an awesome time with your friends. I just feel like it gets ruined by jerks who feel the need to take it to another level.
