Touring Set-ups

I'm looking to buy a touring setup for next season. I'm 5'7, ~150 pounds, advanced skier. The setup would mostly be used in Japan and British Columbia. My current skis are Pettitors and Faction 2.0. Favorite ski is Line Elizabeth, boots are Atomic Hawx. Open to suggestions on skis, boots, bindings.

Which Hawx boot are you in now? How's the fit?

What kind of touring are you planning to do? Will the set-up be used inbounds as well?

This is kind of a broad question, please provide as much information as possible.

Hawx 110- fit is perfect (wide feet), when I skied part I loved the flex, now it's a little soft.

Out of bounds versus in bounds, I'd say 65-35 out to in. I'd like it to be good enough in bounds that I can ski the resort if I want, but it wouldn't be a priority.

It might also be relevant, I'm a distance runner and am in good cardio shape so I'm willing to carry a bit of extra weight if it means a better decent.

Hawx 110 whats? Ultras? They make like 3 different versions of those if I remember right. Each has a different width as well as some other features.

Before the ultra, magna, and prime they did a single hawx boot that was 100 last if I’m not mistaken.

Depending on the conditions you'll be using it in, these would be my top picks for skis:

- Atomic Bent Chetler 120 - best for mostly pow, not super hard inbounds charging. Super light, super playful. Surprisingly stable for its low weight.

- Line Vision 108 - better all-round touring option, still playful, crazy light. Not great for inbounds though - gets knocked around easily (more so than any other ski listed here).

- Moment Wildcat Tour 118 - Chargier alternative to the BC 120.

- Moment Deathwish - very good all-round soft and firm snow option. Heavier than the others, but still fairly light for its size, and quite stable for its weight.

- Line Outline - on the heavier side (~2030 g for 186), but super playful. Definitely not a charger, but if you want a surfy, fairly soft, very playful ski, it's worth a look. Though, admittedly, if you're looking for maximum playfulness and aren't too concerned with stability, the much lighter BC 120 is probably a better call.

For the bindings, I'd go with the Shift or Tecton. Shift is better if you end up skiing very hard, particularly in the resort, on this setup. Tecton's better for longer tours, but still skis very well (only concern is durability).

Boots: If you get a Shift, you could just have CAST install some tech inserts into your Hawx boots. If you want more touring mobility and the ability to ski in traditional tech bindings, then I'd check out the Atomic Hawx XTD line. They're phenomenal boots.
