Touring around Whistler BC

Looking for some beta on the backcountry around Whistler. Trying to avoid buying a lift ticket and would like to go for a day tour somewhere between Squamish and Pemberton. Any info regarding places to go& current conditions would be much appreciated!!

Without a sled your best bang for your buck is up cayoosh/Duffy lake area. It's about 20min past pemberton on 99. Haven't been out that way this year so I have no idea what conditions are like.

The issue this year, is that while the alpine is doing really well, but below 1600m there is really nothing. I have not gone out to Duffy this year, but from what I have heard, you will be breaking brush before you get to snow.

I would personally stick around the circus off the spear head. IF conditions are good, you can still get a BC access pass from guest relations. good for one trip up.

Thanks for the responses!! Ended up skinning out the Spearhead one day, got some nice light pow turns in& managed to hitch a ride on a sled out to the Brandywine Basin the next day for some deepslush!
