Torrents

I've been using torrents for years now. Maybe 3 or so years ago i got a letter in the mail saying I had been downloading illegal stuff or something.

Anyways, just wondering who else has received letters? Or what anyone on here does to remain somewhat anonymous. Don't really want to pay for a VPN.

I have no doubt that they are. But nevertheless, if anyone has any easy free cheap preventative measures, i'm all ears.

If your ISP gets enough complaints / warnings about you, they will eventually do something.

One every once in a while, not much to worry about.

ive been using torrents for about a year and i havent gotten anything. try getting on your neighbors wifi and get them in all sorts of shit

i haven't had trouble for a long time. It seems like you can't do much to stay anonymous. Unless you pay $60 a year for a good VPN or proxy or something

it just makes it look like your situated in a country like the netherlands so you won't get in trouble. I think..

it isn't a service like Netflix or something

no i know but then you can download all the torrents you want -> unlimited music + movies

Spotify Premium - $10 a month.Netflix - $10 a month.

Unlimited movies/music for $20 a month? Thats pretty damn cheap. Paying $60 a year or something for VPN or whatever is ridiculous. Why not just pay for the shit you like?

Netflix has shit selection.

Spotify is like Skype and runs in the background and slows everything down. Its also just annoying.

Maybe he is a broke college student and cant afford it? Maybe its something he wouldnt actually pay for? Or maybe hes just a bum..

I got an e-mail once, just a warning and nothing happened from it. Besides freaking me the fuck out thinking I was going to jail or something. Now I only ever torrent things while at my college using their internet.

this is what I do on public networks, but if you are in a dorm you can get fucked and lose your internet use rights (happened to a number of my friends and my sister for a little while)

to help you with your math

$20/month x 12 months/year = $240

that's FOUR TIMES as expensive as $60/year. here's my proof, 240/60=4!

and like that other guy said netflix selection sucks

Why is $60 a year for a VPN ridiculous?

I would prefer a VPN if anything because that way you can download torrents safely. Torrents are nice cause you get screeners, and leave them to download while you sleep so that way it doesn't hog the internet during the day if you want to game or something.

Also yes, broke student. Anyways just wondering what other people's experiences have been

Why would you pay a third party $60 a year so you can steal music and films when you could just spend that $60 a year on music and films? Nobody's going to come knocking on your door about your torrent use. Sure spotify and netflix are more expensive. At least then you're supporting things you like though.

Yea I would do that first for sure. I have netflix now. Found out you can get American Netflix in Canada. Old netflix sucked! All good now.

so 20/month, or 240 bucks a year just to get some music and movies that you can get completely free on piratebay? no thank you. letters from your service provider are bullshit they wont do anything. ive gotten multiple before. they dont really give a shit

premiums really if you want it on all your devices, and not just your computer. you can still use spotify without paying.

or if you wanted to, create a shit load of accounts with different emails, keep logging into the app on your phone with them and enjoy your free spotify premium trials.
