i got a parking ticket in toronto yesterday but it flew off the windshield wipers because it was really windy out on my way back to the united states.. what do i do?

+k to legit responses :)

why would you leave it on your window??

also, why wouldnt you post this in regionals?

either way.

General inquiries regarding errors on notice, stolen vehicles, parking permits and/or accessible parking permits, including inquiries from persons residing more than 100 kilometers from toronto, show be directed to parking tag operations at 416-397-8247.

im assuming if you give them your plate number they can give you your ticket number.

with that you can pay your ticket online at www.toronto.ca/parkingtickets.

yaaaaa, i get alot of parking tickets.

Well if you live in the U.S., I don't think anyone from Canada is going to try to hunt you down to pay it. So if you aren't going back to Canada anytime soon, I say just forget it, or pay it with this: View attachment 417497

unfortunatly, when you are given a ticket of any kind it is assigned to your plates.

therefore, you will not be able to renew your plates if you have any outstanding fines.

if it were as simple as oh, you dont live in canada, just dont pay it, why would the parking officer even bother giving you a ticket in the first place?? he can clearly see from your plates that you dont live in ontario.

What if you didn't "see" the paking ticket, before it flew off. Or what if "someone" took it off your windscreen before you got back to the car

you should probably google and call the number of the parking authority in toronto. otherwise you may get hassled next time you try to come over the border

There are over 6 million people living in the Greater Toronto Area.

This isnt highschool my dog ate my homework bullshit, im sure they have heard every single exscuse possible as to way someone didnt pay their parking tickets.

this is why newschoolers cracks me up. people legit ask for advice, and then people that have absolutely no fuckin idea what theyre talking about respond. seriously.

if you dont know know what youre talking about why respond? is your post count that important?

its so difficult to seek appropriate advice, even on ski equipment, cause there is soooooo many people just talking straight out of their ass.

Hmmmm it wasn't actually a suggestion to avoid paying. I meant, surely its happened that a ticket has been issued, where its somehow not on the car when the owner gets back to it. I was suggesting lie about not seeing it, and pay when/if they contact you.

That horse of yours is quite tall

thanks everyone for the responses! i think i'm just going to call the toronto city hall and try to pay it myself, i hope it's not too expensive. does anyone know how much the ticket might be? my parents don't kow that i went to canada so i don't want them to find out i got a ticket too.

Dont do what technofarm did.

Avoiding fines/tickets/charges or what ever some local municipality/state/federal government posses on you will only get you into trouble. If it was that easy to get away with things, a lot more people would be doing it.

Man up, and become an adult and just pay your ticket.

People on this site just blow me away sometimes

exactly my point.

you were suggesting doing something when in the end you had absolutely no idea what the consequences of your suggestion would be. do you really think lieing about not seeing a ticket on your window is a valid suggestion? is that how you work? you lie to get out of things??

yes im sure that has happened, im also sure the city dosnt give a fuck. technically and legally that ticket is now your property the second they pin it under your wiper. they also put it under your wiper so it DOES NOT BLOW AWAY. i am also sure that the city of toronto will notify you after 15 days to tell you that your parking ticket fine has now doubled. if you still dont pay it they will send you another notification stating your fine has gone up again. this increase amount depends on the ticket fine you were originally given. if you still dont pay it you just straight up will not be able to renew your license plate sticker, REGARDLESS OF WHERE YOU LIVE.

the price of your ticket will vary depending on the infraction you were given obviously.

parked more then three hours, meter expired, small things etc is $15.

parked in bus route, school zone, restricted time etc is about $50.

parked out front of handicap, fire route, fire hydrant etc is $150ish.

my horse IS quite tall cause i know what im fuckin talking about. deal with it broo.

i'm planning on paying it! i just didn't know what to do since i live in america and i don't know what form of payment i should use since i don't have a credit card or anything and it would be a bitch to have to drive back up and pay it.

I do lie yes. I was suggesting it, not to avoid paying, but to wait for a follow up by mail (which happens where i live), and then pay. She wanted suggestions.

You were right. I didnt think about the fact they would/could double the fine. Anyway case closed now

it can't come in the mail because my parents don't know that i went to toronto and if they saw it they would be confused/mad.

Only within the United States. Your state DMV couldn't give less fucks how many parking tickets you have in Canada though.

However, you may not be able to re-enter Canada without paying it, at which point you will have to pay a bunch of late fees. No one's gonna extradite you on a parking infraction though.

Just call the police dept there. They will have it on file, and I'm sure they have ways for US citizens to pay. I bet US citizens get parking tickets there all the time.

good idea to cross border to do that kind of stuff!

fucking kids these days...

you live in buffalo (from what your profile tells me), why the fuck would you need a fake? You don't look like you could pull off 21 (also based on profile picture) and getting one for 18+ stuff is stupid. If you are going into canada alone I'd assume you're already somewhere close to being 18/19, can't kids fucking wait these days?

my family got a ticket in barcelona and we forgot to pay it (rental car), and they called us when we were back in the states and made us pay it

hey easy there. i wanted it for personal reasons so i made the trek up there with a fellow newschooler and we are happy with our purchases.

don't question her reasons. obviously we're dealing here with a beacon of intelligence. you gotta be in order to drive on the highway with a parking ticket still under your wiper.

call the city of toronto's parking service.

explain the situation.

give them your plate number.

they will give you the parking ticket number.

pay it online.

MOVE ON.

Hmm.. a guy I knew got a ticket in B.C. for speeding or something, never paid it and shortly after moved back to Ontario. Been over 10 years and he hasn't had any problems, so...

a couple things. first, do what you are doing in terms of payment. Probably the best choice. Second, dont listen to them. do what you need to do in terms of fakes especially if its for something private

i got a parking ticket the other day in calgery (where i live) and it was 36 dollars. good luck and i hope you are able to pay it before fines increae

good news- last week when i called the toronto city hall to ask about my ticket, the woman on the phone said that there was a "processing error" and my ticket was cancelled. so now i'm off the hook! :)

Thats so great. glad to hear it all worked out well. Did your parents find out? Also, is there any snow in New York right now? Im going to be there next week.
