Torn Meniscus

I tore mine 3 years ago and never got surgery it aches every once in a while and clicks occasionally but overall it feels great and doesn't give me any trouble. My advice would be physical therapy and a lot of strengthening over surgery. I'm sure it depends on the severity though. Good luck man i know its a pain.

I tore it.Required surgery,and instead of sewing the torn piece back on they snipped it off. Shorter recovery time that way( like 3 weeks? cant really remember). I didnt need any physical therapy, either.
If they end up sewing it back on, you could be looking at much longer recovery times, but your knee will hold up better down the road. All in all it sucks, but its not as bad as some other knee injuries.

Yeah it was a weird one - i was playing soccer one night, and felt fine - felt fine afterwards and when i got home. But the next morning my left knee was stiff, and a bit painful. Not crazy so, I could still walk fine etc etc - just a nuisance. Then i noticed some swelling.
This was abotu 2 weeks ago - i've never had a knee injury before so had no idea what it was - even though i knew it wasn't anything major as there was no instability or anything.
Went to see the Ortho yesterday who gave it an xray and a good exam - and recommended an MRI - due to swelling and motion related pain, he suspected a torn meniscus.
The MRI will show more - he recommended getting it repaired as i was still relatively young... but i'll see what the MRI shows.
I hear arthroscopic surgery is relatively low impact with quick recovery times...

I tore my about Meniscus in May of 06 and had surgery in July. It was harder to get around before the surgery then after. I did PT and took it really seriously was ready to ski the December.
