Top North American Terrain Parks

What makes the best park? Transworld doesn't include whistler Blackcomb in the top 10, why not?

Wb has only of the best jump builders in the world. The XL jump line right now is 65,60,72,&70 feet long. Teams that came for events and then decided to stay for multiple extra days even weeks.

Blackcombs got its own triple chair that cruises over the park making an enjoyable ride or spot to get some bagger shots

Whis park has mad flow with a great progression park.

WB may be a little slower to open than some other places in CO but once going, Blackcomb park stays open till end of may. After some fun glacier sessions either in the public lane or one of the many camps.

So other than having to expand to make even a long park run (what would be annoying to build since the lower to go the shittier the slow is to groom out nice) what does these other top resorts have that WB doesn't?

Whislter, A51, Breck, Mammoth, Sun Valley, Seven Springs, Loon, Waterville Valley, and Copper. The list goes on, it's hard to compare parks from East and West mostly based off of how large the difference in snowfall and man made snow is. Just how the parks are built is very different, but if you look, there are some awesome parks on the East Coast, they are just generally a bit smaller.

No doubt east coast parks are up there. Building a solid park is key for business since it makes for the best use of the terrain. Just because the run is short you can get super hot laps in a session.

Seymour had it good before with the rope tow park. Five hits & back to the top in 2 mins.

Agreed.

Money, time, location, snowfall, and of course, Park staff make for a good park.

My local mountain that has somehow found it in their budget to hire 35+ Ski instructors, but not re-fabricate their rails/boxes, or even rake the parks more than once a weekend. They've also added a new Triple, with the treadmill like thingy on it, which is fucking ridiculous, because it's a small mountain, only 45 trails or so, and add new additions to the lodge. I'm fairly certain they don't have full-time park staff, and have 2-4 park rangers/fabricators/welders all together? No dedicated grooming either.

okay you cant stand the kids at breck that sucks for you dude, cause brecks got just way better flow to their park man aint no denying that 3 jumps, 5 rails (3-4x options)... ect all in a perfect line. . key i find my self criss corssin the rails to hit a line but thats all good cuz their rails are smooth as butta. still a full t2b run at breck is the best you can get, in CO at least

West coast mountains no, small vertical east coast hill yes. The ski industry runs on family's that ski 1-3 a season (mainly on holidays). They buy/rent gear, day tickets, lodge food, lessons, accommodations, ect... Park rats hike the hill/buy a cheap season pass, ride their gear till its hundred percent toasted, bring they're own food/shoplift.

The east coast parks keeps the skiing and winter sprit going for local rippers. If it wasn't for east coast parks, I'm sure alot of east coast skiers and pros wouldn't be doing what they are doing now.

Black park is probably the best it's ever been this year and the same goes for blue park. I think they just draw names out of a hat for the rankings cause they rarely make sense.

I mean sure, if you want to ski flat rails and down boxes all day with some mediocre jumps and a lot of people from Jersey...

Probably gonna get people mad at me but here goes, the best park ive ever beeen to is the 603 park at mt sunapee. I know all the lift ops and some of the park crew, and i love the feature and the range of skill level the can fit into one park. I love how the jump lines flow beuatifully and how easy it is to film there. Lots of fun. and they always put up their park ASAP

Best park I have ever ridden was lake Louise but I don't travel to far for park. Best looking park I have seen in videos is probably breck IMO. The funnest looking parks I have seen are probably Brighton and bear mountain.

I'm from Big Bear and have been riding Bear Mountain for most of my life growing up here. I've been to Mammoth, Northstar, Blackcomb, Breck, PC, Boreal. I can say I was super impressed with Blackcomb and their flow to their park and massive jumps. Mammoth has crazy jumps for sure. But overall I'd have to go with Bear for the best jibs. Plus the vibe and sunshine of hotlapping Bear is something that you can't get anywhere else.
