Which are best bindings? Which are the lightest and for a good price?

Do freestyle skier need a binding platform?

Any suggestions?

don't go for the binding platform. it weighs a lot and won't do you any good unless you are racing.

go with solomons, rossis, or looks unless you have line skis which you should get the line bindings for. they aren't as heavy as people say and their weight is centered so when the ski is on your foot, it feels really light. and line backs them really well. depending on your weight, you should go with a pair of bindings that has a max din setting between 10 and 14 depending on your price range

salomon s912ti's

super light, no comlaints at all so far from me. I've also ridden look p-10s and Line Reactors. The reactors are expensive, heavy, and not very durable. The Looks are great but a little heavier than the s912's

just dont buy salomon, worst bindings ever. over hte last month they would release on me and i would just be skiing down the hill. not falling just releasing. they also released while i was on rails. brought them into the shop and there was nothing wrong with them at all

look on ebay. real cheap.

i agree, soloman is not a good binding choice, they have prereleased in my expiriences as well. i ride on look jib 14s right now and they great

I used to talk salomon bindings up, now after theyve almost killed me countless times and finally blew up on me last weeek ,fuck salomon.

I think the s916's are good bindings, they're harder to get though. Personally I like Rossi Axial 140's

A binding tech once told me that unless you run your din over 9, p10's are just as good as p12's or p14's. Is this true or just myth?

I dont know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Word on the street is you dont want to be setting your binding near the top or bottom end of the din range for proper performance

I have a hard time believing that, a company builds a binding with a certain DIN range on it, it doesn't make sense that the binding wouldn't work properly at the top or bottom of that range. Best check with the manufacturer if your though just in case.

If you have a DIN of 10 on your binding, you should never ride higher than 8. 9 if you like to really push things, but 8 really. 12 DIN you should only ride to 10, 14 to 12 etc. When you tighten the binding all the way to the top, the spring is very compressed and gives a less smooth movement and creates unpredictable releases.

Other than that the Rossi/Look pivot bindings are all just as good. just pick one with the appropriate DIN.

You've heard it straight from a shop techy, boys and girls.

when purchasing a binding you want to make sure your din is in the middle range of the binding, so that the spring isnt released all the way, or way to tight...

that sums it up, i would get p12s, regular, jib, or ti, depending on the amount of money you have..

^That's a good general rule but my $3000 torque tester from Switzerland disagrees bro. This rule is true for all bindings EXCEPT for Look and Rossi bindings which release more consistantly than any other binding and continue to do so into their highest din range. This is why you might notice that you need an 11+ on your S914 but only a 10 on your Pivot Jib. And I have tested a p10 at 10 and it releases perfect when brand new. Of course it still isn't recomended that you ski at the max din on any binding but if you had to your best bet would be on a Look.

I'm interested to know what model of salomons people have problems with? My guess is that people are lower din models cranked up. I ski the 912ti's at 10 and have never had a problem, my skis hardly fall off.

I think the problem is that they're not adjusted right. The toepiece get loose ect. They're not bad bindings if they're maintained properly

do not go with salomans or markers or anything other than pivot bindings (look, rossi, line) and whatevr you do not get markers the spring will strech after like 2 years and they will be useless

I just give my wings and the vertical a little tighten, plenty of time when you're waiting for the snowboarders you're riding with

^but thats a pain in the ass. Plus you're never totally sure if the wing height is set properly if you just give it a 'little tighten'

i have the s912s. sometimes they peform fine, then all of a sudden i find one foot has a ski on it and the other is running along snow. ive had alot of near calls with these. when i got my new skis i got the p12jibs and theres no comparison. they feel lighter and most importantly they keep my in when i need to be and release when they are supposed to.

salomon s912 and s810s are horrible. they pre-release all the time. i would come off of a rail and it would release, its bullshit. get some reactors. mine have never released when they shoudlnt have and you wont get a knee injury
