Mine would be

1.Jimi Hendrix/Band of Gypsies/Cry of Love/Suns and Rainbows

2. The Beatles

3. Pink Floyd

4. All the Clapton

5. Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble.
 
If you want to talk stealing music (i love the guy, but) Stevie literally admitted that all of his solos were basically albert king solos or riffs played faster. Don't hate on bands for stealing music, that's what music is all about, you take stuff and try to improve on it.
 
lol, sooo many of my friends are just crushed when I sit them down in front of the hifi with their favorite clapton disk and all my old muddy waters, buddy guy, son house etc records and just let them hear the original versions. Clapton I have to respect beacuse his technique is great and he has good feeling, but he literally never wrote a note in his life. Well obviously I mean, he has some originals that are amazing, but 90% of his stuff is recycled from 'the masters', and when you hear the real music behind it, it's like hearing for the first time.

Truly crushing for the diehard claptonians who thought those were all original pieces though.
 
Isn't it wierd that Rush has yet to make the "Top 5 Greatest Bands Ever" thread?

With all the Rush fans out there you'd think they would show more support.
 
Yeah, but he and Clapton used riffs and gave props to the old musicians.

Zeppelin never did. Just now they are coming out with "influence" albums, showing where they got their ideas and giving credit to the artists.

Uhhh, Sublime doesn't exactly have many lyrically deep songs, and I think that's what makes them so great.

and just as a side note....A TRIBE CALLED QUEST and the other native tounges are the best hip hop groups out there

 
how come everyone likes the same music, its fucking boring that way. mix it up people open up your minds, being the same is boring! dooo it
