Too cold for phones

We all have experienced this, some more than others; you're at 67% battery changing your playlist on the lift through your $150 "all weather" case, and that shit goes black leaving you tuneless for the rest of the day.

How do you guys combat this? am I missing the raddest invention that keeps ya shit alive?

the best thing I can recommend is just putting them in a pocket underneath your outerlayers (ie: you got normal pants on under your shells? put them in that pocket).

band together to brainstorm our way out of the worst thing imaginable on a solo day.

hand warmer in the inner pocket and keep a portable charger on hand, the outdoor tech kodiak is super great and survives nearly everything, but can be a bit bulky

is it weird that I've never experienced this? Keep your phone in at least a somewhat insulated pocket and limit the time you take it out of your pocket, and the battery will easily last all day and never randomly shut off. If you put your phone on an outside pocket with nothing separating it from the cold except a tiny sliver of fabric then yeah it's gonna turn into an icecube real quick

i have a lifeproof and i love it keeps my phone protected and warm ish without shutting off. I would recomend it as it is worth the extra money.

where tf u riding that a lifeproof is enough? i've had two different models and it hasn't helped

either keep a hand warmer in your pocket or if your issue is mainly music, buy a cheap mp3 player or an ipod shuffle

HandWarmer in the pocket is the best way to keep it from shutting off, done it for years if not a hand warmer just keep it on a portable charger

Some kid on here said he was making a prototype case for this and everybody said it was a stupid idea. Now everybody is mad that it doesn't exist.

Fuck the hand warmers, get a foot warmer thats got a sticky side and stick that bitch right on the back of your phone or phone case. Guaranteed to be warm all day.

My iPhone is weird. When it's single digits out, it says it's overheating and "iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it"

Mine does that too. But think about how frostbite feels. It burns a little, I thought maybe thats how the phone sees it too.

This is a lifesaver. Had mine for 8 years and still works like new

I have some sony MP3 my dad got me for Christmas last year since he hates apple products. Battery lasts multiple days even after being in the cold.

Buy a battery case. Phone will never randomly shut off in the cold again.

Not good advice. I had a mophie and it died on me so many times while filming. The problem is that the battery itself isn't warm enough to react at a fast enough speed so you phone thinks its dead. It need heat to function. Plus there is a pretty solid chance that the battery case battery won't last long either.

I swear apple does this on purpose to influence customers to buying the newest phones. My iphone 6s is the worst out of any previous iphone I've owned when it comes to the battery dying in the cold.

Hand warmers

also the charge packs that are only 5 bucks at walmart.

Last season I would keep 2 in rotation. Leave 1 charging in my office, and have the other one on my phone. Straight golden.

A couple of times it died when I didn't have any warmers and couldn't make it down the mountain to grab a charger but rocked tunes 24/7 mostly.

yeah even the battery lifeproof case does this, on mine and a friends.

I have a battery case from Amazon and it does not have this problem. Works perfectly all day. I even put it on my phone when it's filming on a tripod. Never dies from the cold.

Yep charging case is definitely the way to go. It won't prevent it from turning off but it'll let you turn it back on when that happens. And when your phone turns off I've found it's not because it's actually out of power. Push the power button on the charging case and within a minute your phone is back at 65% or whatever. It's not a perfect solution but it's way better to have my phone turn off three times and reboot than to have it shut off once in the morning and be tuneless all day.

Here's the one I use... $14 if you have the iphone 6. I'm sure you can find some even cheaper too

Threads in case someone has a brilliant idea on how to prevent it, when my phone dies at like %50 battery i usually just put it someone warm on my body on a lift ride up like my armpit and it will come back on for me. annoying af though.

My new phone is a replacement for one I broke and it has horrrrible battery life.

I'm not even going to try to make it last when I go skiing

Yeah I've never had an issue either. I keep mine in my pants pocket and only take it out to change songs. Never use a case or at the most a minimal one and have never had it shut off on me.
