still cant have motherfucking skate 3 on ps4 though thanks sony

this is cool and all but if I wanted to play THPS/THUG games i would just torrent them for $0 and it would take less time than downloading them from psn

I honestly don't know how dumb they can be, to see this much demand for something and not deliver.

its an EA issue with conflicting rights between the original developers that they bought and disbanded. RIP Blackbox

what is a Sony issue is the cell processor on the PS3 is significantly different than the ps4, thats why xbox has way better backwards compatibility. Next gen will fix that though

I think its actually been that way for 5+ (6? 7?) years...shows how out of touch they are with their customer base

the amount of profit they make off microtransactions (not even selling the game) from FIFA alone is disgusting. I really miss the days when you put in a grind in games to unlock content and not just whipped out your credit card.....fuck EA
 
Got skaterXL yesterday, its 15.99 on steam right now, recommend if you like skate games and have a PC.

Yeah they could sell enough to pay for it in preorders.

Could legit use physics from 3 and reskin everything and make new levels and story and people would buy it.

But sometimes i check the insta for a laugh

Hahah exactly this. I don't even want anything about the game to change, just a couple new characters, some updated clothes and new places to skate.

That's not how game developers work, they don't just make a game because people ask for it on social media. For the most part, game devs of AAA games operate on their own schedule, their own terms and only make a game if they think they should, they dont care what you or anyone else actually thinks, they know way more about their audience and customers than some dumb fuck kid posting "make skate 4" on their instagram. IDGAF is thousands of different people posted on their instagram, thats just not how it works.

My guess is they are waiting/slowly working on skate 4 in anticipation for the next gen of consoles, being able to make a game for a more powerful machine = better game so I'll play skaterXL while I wait.

Ok true I have literally 0 idea how video game development works but in terms of their target audience and potential customer, I'd argue that those "dumb fuck kids" are their exact audience? I'm not arguing with the "how it works", (which you're obviously correct about given that the game hasnt been made yet,) but rather just pointing out "they" (ea, developers, whoever, or even someone 3rd part) is dumb af for not capitalizing on it. I couldnt believe it took this long for something like Skater XL to come out (which looks terrible IMO)

I'd agree if it was just a handful of comments but its legit every thousands of unique comments for the last like 5 years on all of their posts. I work in ecommerce and most companies/brands/products would KILL to get that type of engagement/demand. To the best of my knowledge, EA hasn't even acknowledged it.

EA is a huge company (33B market cap) they do what they want, TBH they might "want" to make the game but they're stacking paper RN making other games, plus the dev group that made skate doesn't exists anymore, EA killed it so thats probably part of the issue too. I mostly get bothered by people who say "i cant believe theyre not capitalizing on *insert something they think would be popular* what idiots!" like its a very successful game dev, they aren't idiots, theyre chasing money and as much as you think skate is a no brainer, it might not be for the business, which neither of us know about.

Yeah totally. Just so fucking frustrating tho, I want Skate 4 so bad haha

Have you played Skater XL yet? I'm not super into video games but I might buy a switch just to have something to play during quarantine and a shitty skating game is better than nothing. I didnt think the physics looked awesome from trailers I've seen but I heard there are no "set animations" so tricks will always look a little different, which sounds cool

Yeah i just got it for PC, its pretty fun, similar to skate but you use the left stick for nollie/flip tricks and turn with triggers. IDK what its gonna be like when it full releases, but I imagine it'll be fun, its certainly beta still on PC but still quite fun. Flip tricks/ollies are pretty easy but the grinding is the most challenging.

Why would they? There return on investment is going to be much higher on Star Wars game or Fifa or Sims. They'll probably look at the sales of this game and see if they think its worth it for them to make Skate 4. I could also see them start working on it after there Star Wars licensing agreement ends in 2023.
 
This game let me live out my middle school dream of skating burnside without getting shanked by homeless people. Thanks Tony Hawk
 
I got the demo, it’s awesome. Feels just like the original, but with great graphics. Not a huge gamer anymore, but will probably have to get this one.
