Who has one, do you use a polarizer on it? Get any vignette? What polarizer?

No I dont care that you arent supposed to use CPLs on UWA.

FYI the 12-24 will vignette with regular CPL's. Not sure about slims.
 
Jesus christ kid, if I wanted to use Cokin filters I would. But I don't.

Why would you even make that suggestion?
 
And can I please see your set? Since you do own them right? Isn't that why you suggested it to me as a better option?
 
because the 4x4's don't vignette as badly, or at least they don't with what I've seen.

And I use a 4x4 linear polarizer, and am getting a .6 ND soon as well
 
They shouldn't vignette at all, and why are you using a linear polarizer with digital.
 
I use a shitty UV filter on mine most times, not being built well, it's thick and sits off the lens a bit. If you bought a quality CPL that was thinner and didn't sit too far off the lens you would probably be fine, I can't remember ever seeing vignette.
 
Can I see an example? And Twoods (tyler? trevor?) How thick is the UV? I have a 77mm B+W CPL that vignettes on the 12-24, and the difference between the lens is about the cost of a new CPL so I may just swap lenses instead of buying another. Plus Ive been slowly looking at the 11-16 since I hate slow lenses.
 
The brand is Sunpack (from best buy) My UV filter is a hair over 5mm tall, the CPL is 8. I cut an 8mm thick strip of tape and taped it around the edge of the UV, you for sure get vignetting at 11. Goes away by 13mm.

I suppose if you can find a sub 5mm tall CPL it would work, but I'm not sure where you will find that.

Also, I just bought some cheapo polarizer to tide me over until I get some Lee squares, and I have no vig issues on mine.

Also, if you want one, just get on the waiting list on Adorama. In about a month they will send you one...
 
Its 7mm thick, Ill be pissed if I have to buy a slim cpl, this filter wasnt cheap. Why dont you just mount the cpl on the 11mm or is it different size?

And yes, I want a 11-16 over the 12-24.
 
It's a different size. I have a 52 and a 67 CPL, but I don't have a 77. both are the cheapo sunpak, I figure the 77 isn't going to get any thinner.

I fully support the 11-16 over the 12-24. I don't like the 12-24 as much at all.
