TOE BANG???

So I just got new boots (SPK Kreations) and sometimes when I land my big toe slams into the front of my boot. I don't know if it's the shell or the liner but I do know that it hurts like shit. I had a professional fitter size me up and it felt awesome in the store. I've only used them about 5 days now... is there any more "packing out" to do in the soles? Is there any way to stretch the liner or boot at all??

should have gotten ful...---oh wait! that joke is stupid.
Sometimes it helps just to trim your toenails down. I have had bad toe bang before and then my toenail fell off and it was all good.

If you don't want to buy new boots like some of them^^ are suggesting, just tighten up your two lower buckles. A lot. Open them on the lift for blood flow, cut off the blood from your toes on the skiing bit and odds are, you won't feel them.

1) get footbeds

2) don't land backseat

3) just because someone works in a shop does not mean they are a professional bootfitter

4) boots should not feel awesome in the store

clip your nails. it usually helps me a little and make sure your heel is all the way back when you strap into your boots. slam it down so it is back they strap in

yeah i always cut my nails before skiing and a smaller boot makes a huge diffference because when you land, your foot gets smashed in the front of the boot, so with a smaller boot, that wont happen and same with having long nails, your nails just dig into your toes

alright so this year im looking to buy some park boots so im thinking bout getting some full tilt doggers and last year i had a nordica 29.5 and it was a good size only got toe bang once or twice...now the ft im looking at are a 30 would that be to big

bootfitter.

chances are that if you were saying the 29.5 was good and you only had toe bang once or twice... you dont want to go bigger.

shit, that sounds pretty serious, you should go see a doctor about that...jk. but just tighten all the straps to the max you can physically bare, thats what i do and ive never had a problem with mine.

check your boot fit. take out the liner and put your foot in the boot to check the shell size. with your toes hitting the end you should only have room for about a finger and a half behind your heel. if you have more they are too big, less and you should punch out your boot. i had crazy toe bang on my right boot since my right foot is a half size bigger but my left never had a problem, got it punched completely fixed it. try that but the biggest thing like people said is to not land backseat.

used to ride shitty raceboots and had terrible toe bang. shit sucked and i got a pair of boots that fit me and the problem was gone. but then came the shin bang :(

toe bang does not mean your boots are to big. i had spks that git perfect with footbeds, and i still also got toe bang. not landing backseat will help, but most times thats not that easy to correct, even as it sounds. ha.

trim toe nails short, and try to land perfect is all you can do, unless you get new boots, full tilt...

Afterbang, shinbang, TOE bang!?!?! what next!
your boots, sir, are too big.And dont get full tilts, they suck. PM Cobra_commander if you dont believe me.

It just happens sometimes. Some people get it, some people don't. It depends on the shape of your foot and toes. I get it sometimes with my 09 spk pros. The new rubber toe piece on the 10 spk pros looks like the greatest invention ever in my opinion. I'll be upgrading to them next.

I suffer toe bang but have greatly reduced it due to aggressively sizing down my boots. I am a size 11.5 shoe I wear a size 10.5 ski boot with a heat mold liner. When I first get new boots I put them on and I'm usually like "dude no way" but after heat molding and a few days breaking them in they fit like OJ's glove. This reduces most of the volume in the plastic shell of my boot, thus there is less room to move and the feet are kept still and injury free. I have these weird long toes so I find that Salomon boots work best, they have a nice big toe box. Sometimes I land back seat on larger airs and that kills the toes but that is unavoidable. If you are getting toe bang just from manuals or skiing pow, like I used to, then you need to step up your boot game! Also like the kids say above, keep your toenails trimmed always, and wash between your toes!

Any boot I've had for the past like 3 seasons always make me feet go numb and my legs hurt. anyone know what thats about?

this happened to me alot man when i first got mine, go back to the store where u got them and get the area where your big toe is bumped out a bit. they'll just use a hammer and tap on the front of the boots and find out where there's too much contact and then push that area out a bit. this is all assuming that your boots are at least a size and a half smaller than what your foot measures out at. also get foot beds, super feet should work fine with a higher arch in your bed it helps hold your foot inplace and also pulls your toes slightly back from the end. another thing you should try is tighten the shit out of them honestly i have to unbluckle mine (my 2 friends as well) everytime you go up the lift.
To sum it up get foot beds! superfeet orange are sweet lots of shock absorption. Then tighten the boots more and if it still happens have the fitter "bump" the area around your big toe. problem solved!
Ski boots need to be fitted to your feet its rare poeple dont have problems so make sure you feel comfertable with the person fitting your boots you dont want them to fuck up haha.

depends what boots do you have?
Probly could be solved with some hella thin ski socks man. if not you gotta get some new boots.

I've tried a couple different pairs of nordica boots, technica, and head boots. i usually just ski with regular socks. it's annoying as fuck though.

yeah your boots are definitely not too big. I have those boots and my big toenail is perma-black from them but i just ride thru it

Try getting footbeds, it could be the way your foot sits in the boot isn't right and it's putting pressure on the wrong parts of your feet and damagin the nerves. Boots rae made so you have special contact points and when your feel pornate or turn out then this can be changed and can mean you get porblems iwth feet and legs.

To the thread creater you may also have boots to small, when I was doing ski-x trianing 60ft jumps in race boots a size too small I got major toe bang so muhc so I've half lost my nail it's gottne loose and my whole toe has gottne infected. You could need bigger boots, get them blown out or as they other have said it coul dbe your boots are too big.

Shouldve gottten Kaos, wirth the extra money. Also boots are alittle big, tighten your lower buckles

i used to have these salmon ghosts and my toes would kill after a long day of hitting jumps but ever since i got full tilts i haven't had toe bang since!

a few years ago i lost 3 toenails bc of shitty boots. I ended up buying these pads for my toes, i think they were called jill's gels. They ended up helping a lot. I would also tighten the shit out of the third buckle from the bottom

Still, after going to a professional fitter with footbeds and other shell stretches and mods, I get toe bang if my front buckle is not clamped to the max. In return it freezes my feet, but alas no toe bang. The front buckle keeps your foot tight and prevents it from sliding/slamming into the toe of the boot.

That sounds like your boot of made for a higher volume foot than you have. You can't take up the space enough in the boot, so you slide forward. Clamping the buckle really tight tries to fix this problem, but it is still designed with too much room and causes weird pressure when too tight. A boot made for skinnier feet will help you.

bootfitter.chances are that if you were saying the 29.5 was good and you only had toe bang once or twice... you dont want to go bigger.

Try reading it now

also your boots as you could probably guess from all the comments in this thread, are too big. Don't buy new boots when you have 5 days on these just trim your nails and tighten your boots also a thicker sock might help you.

get ur heel as snug as possible in the back socket. on full tilts that means cranking down the mid buckle.
