I just want to know why people tend to mix what they see as a social scene with their overall judgement of a resort like keystone or breck. Being from Colorado I can remember when there was no such thing as a "scene" at either of these mountains. Granted Freeway was still there and still prime there was really never a crowd, no haters, no divide between styles determined by the clothing you wear like "gypsy" or "thug" or "the new skittles flavor." Before these retardedly oversimplified generalizations existed we didn't judge a place by the people riding it. Obvi if you are at either mountain there are gonna be people throwing down so who cares what they wear (unless they really are their sisters pants, thats just weird) or talk about, or represent and if they dont want to talk to you maybe its because you crowd the park they grew up riding. Anybody who has been on this so called "scene" for any extended period of time knows that is not how you judge a mountain, you judge a mountain by its TERRAIN.

Continuing this bring me to my second point. Because of this need to socialize on the mountain and look cool with your "crew" these scenesters forget why they are riding in the first place. So they neglect a place like Vail where you can find pillow line after pillow line and acres of prime powder real estate so that they can go be a part of the greater "scene." Which is actually completely cool with me and anybody who this applies to is completely retarded, unless for financial reasons.

Now I dont dislike Keystone or Breck because of this I am just frustrated with a lot of the people riding the mountains. Disrespect everywhere: snakes that suck (really if your gonna snake it you gotta make it), kids getting in the way of in runs, people hiking way too close to the features, even just dropping snow off your skis from the lift to hit someone sucks. You might think its fun but I will white wash the shit out of anybody who douches out like this. Take it up another level and ill consider putting my shoulder into you at 30.

So i just wanted to thank everyone who this applies to for turning these places from actual ski MOUNTAINS into play places for you and your firneds. Sorry for the rant.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but I always have a good time with my friends at key and breck when i go, and most people are super chill. granted there will be gyspy vs thug wars everywhere, but seriously, the vibe is overall pretty positive.

And the only reason I go to key or breck is terrain, or the park in each. Ive never heard of anyone who goes a mountain just because of the vibe, but you have to understand if there is dicks everywhere, people wont go. So in summary, it sucks that you feel the mts are being corrupted by wars between fashion styles or whatnot, but overall people will ski there just because they want to have fun skiing at a place with decent terrain.

i dont know about CO but i always get bad vibes from everyone at silver star, from riders to staff the people are just stuck up. keeps me away...

Any other season, I would agree with you, but with the snow sucking how it is right now. I can't help but treat the mountain like a huge play-place. I'm not duechy, and I usually ride alone, but that doesnt stop me from having a great time in the park! Come on, mountains are playgrounds. There are always going to be the "cool" kids that try to hog all the fun, but theres always that empty area on the other side of the swings...

Oh and Breck KILLS Key on terrain.
