To the "badasses" with full face helmets

unless ur doing seth style gainers off 50+ footers (NOT claiming feet, but actual feet), take that shit off. knees to faces off of anything below 50 doesn't hurt, fuck wear a mouth guard if ur really that concerned.

full faces are simply for people who wanna look legit, but can't show it through their actual skiing.

unless ur seth.

Not that I think they're cool...but check out my brothers mouth and you'll wanna wear one two. First shot in http://poorboyz.com/node/142. He came up short and knees to face. Pretty much REALLY fucked himself up, broken jaw in 2 places, popped out 2 teeth and pushed a lot more back. I think they look gay but you shouldn't rip on people for trying to be safe. That's like saying peeps are for pussies.

yeah skiing hairy ass lines like what seth and mcintosh do. the fact of the matter is that 90% of people i see wearing full faces dont come anywhere near those lines. trust me i keep my eyes open for the bombholes.

and to Mead: im sorry for your brother, shit sucks. he should consider wearing a mouthguard, especially since he worked himself at a jib comp, and full faces restrict your field of vision when spinning.

I don't know where you live, but there are a good amount of people wearing full faces here, and most of them have legit reasons. big exposure

i saw some douche little kid (14-16) wearing one at the bird yesterday. i wanted to fucking slap him, and it wasnt for protection because he had serious injuries and shit, i made sure i checked him out before hating him in my head. but i also saw him lapping the MID-GAD chairlift....... so quite frankly that kid is a major douche.

^snowbird. the only one you'll find there wearing a full face, and only on occasion, who is actually going legitly big, is julian carr.

i also find it funny that at the tram deck its like uber sickness all around you...... than your up in the gnar and you never see em! its like whoa where did all the 08-09 people go.....

just kidding. if you get second tram you should see all of them throwing there carcus's off of everything.

seriously, does that kid who wants extra protection directly effect you and your skiing? grow up and worry about your own shit not other peoples choices....

Nothing wrong with putting a little plastic between you're face and an exposed line, how do you know these guys can't ski? are you following them around? Get a life.

you guys are all GRADE A douche bags. the internet is for shooting the shit.... NOT CARING..... if you happen to walk past someone and see something you dont like of course a thought is going to pop into your head. does it mean you are steaming about it all day? no it means a thought popped in your head for just a minute. than a thread gets made to remind you of said thought. than wow you translate that SIMPLE little thought on to the computer screen so OTHER people can translate there simple little thoughts and you can have a discussion. i do not believe that anyone REALLY gives that much of a fuck about a kid wearing a fullface.

just so you know.

what are you talking about?

anything that hits you in the face is going to hurt, especially if there is enough force involved to drive your knee into your face.

and why do you have to be dropping cliffs to hurt yourself? have you ever hit a burried rock and then landed in more rocks? that shit is painful.

this thread needs to be deleted because it doesnt make any sense

all im saying is that if you put on a full moto-cross helmet and a pack and just look like you should be rippin lines in AK with seth but lap the beginner lift your going to look like an idiot in my head.

soooooooooo i dont see how that doesnt make sense. and thats my opinion and since its my opinion and NOT yours than what the fuck DO YOU care about it. WHY DO YOU CARE WHAT I THINK ABOUT CARING ABOUT SOME KIDS MOTO-CROSS HELMeT.

i already apologized for the rant.

full faces are expensive, really expensive. protecting your face is easily done with a 5 dollar mouth guard, and a used protec helmet. i mentioned if ur actually charging hard enough then u probably should be wearing a full face.

all im saying is the people that tend to wear the fullfaces are not doing exactly that.

if by "following" the full faces, you mean rolling up on them gettin the jitters over a 25 footer and snagging their line, then i guess i'm doing just that.

i am merely voicing my opinion. that's what an online discussion forum is for.

I AM BORED BECAUSE THE CONDITIONS HAPPEN TO BE SHITTY, dont worry guys i get my days in. ALL YOU POSTWHORES (NOMENSTEVEN?) NEED TO THINK AGAIN ABOUT WHO UR TELLING TO GET A LIFE.

HOW MANY fucking threads are created on here all the time about which outfit to choose, "oh shit mack dawg is gonna fuck u up if u hit chad's" recalls, how 'bout all the threads on spin to win, or better yet the recent thread of "how much time/sleep do you lose on newschoolers"?

i'm confident i dont spend nearly as much time on this DISCUSSION board as some of you fellas.

thankfully because we don't need any more posts from douchebags like you. there are already enough of them on here.

you are a fucking moron for putting up this lame thread. who the fuck cares if someone wears something that could help prevent an injury? let me guess... you are probably a badass who makes fun of people who use put down the bar while riding a chaiflit. worry about yourself, have fun skiing, and stop conerning yourself with people who wear protection. did it ever occur to you that there are many reasons someone might wear a faceguard? maybe they are worried about gapers like you running into them on the mountain skiing out of control. maybe they had an injury in an unrelated event in or around their mouth or jaws and they cannot skii unless their face is protected.

maybe if you liked yourself more, or had a little more confidence you would not feel the need to call out people who have nothing to do with your skiing. douchebag

its an open discussion i dont believe he is really concerning himself about anyone

you guys think a fucking gaper should wear a FULL FACE MOTO CROSS HELMET on the beginning chair. we dont. GET THE FUCK OVER IT.

Yeah, fuck being safe! When I'm dropping cliffs and landing in tightly grouped trees and the occasional rock i want have my face fully exposed! I also hate seat belts and ABS for anyone that isn't rally racing through Siberia!

fuck all you guys. seriously. were skiers. we take massive hits, proabably more than most sports! but the way you guys are talking i think we should wear hockey with a mix of football gear anytime we go skiing because were all so worried about taking that big hit.

nonseven or whatever the fuck your name is..... do YOU wear a full face? and guy above me.... do YOU wear a full face? does anyone wear a fullface in this thread?

if you ever have a serious injury then you will start to wear "all" of that protection. I dont ski much anymore, but when i ride my sled i were protection everywhere, chest, arm, hip, knee, and neck. And dont tell me, "thats a sled, it has a motor" hitting ur head skiing on even an icy groomer fast could cause severe trauma, not to mention rolling all the way to the bottom of the tram somewhere.....

i agree that full faces are ridiculous, but for actual REAL reasons. before i start, knees to face off anything under 50 ft doesnt hurt, dont be stupid. i knocked my teeth out coming off a rail and hitting my knees into my face. its like being hit by mike tyson.

but my reasons:

1. the people wearing full faces tend to be about 13 14 years old. still growing. this makes a full face dangerous for themselves. the way the helmet fits snug around your face, means that wherever the helmet goes, the head goes. there have been cases where kids have faceplanted wearing a fullface, and the resulting upward (think uppercut), violent movement has broken their necks. young kids are not strong enough to survive the forces that can be delivered to their necks like that.

2. full faces are solidly built. they are reinforced more that your standard g 10 or (ahem) bern baker. i dont know if you've been hit by someone in a fullface, but i have. some guy crashed into me and his full face hit me in the ribs. felt like i was hit by a brick, or a minitram. imagine if the guy had hit a small kid, not in the ribs, but the head, the helmet would go through the kid.

3. they look gay.

- i actually think fullfaces should be banned or at least controlled for on piste skiing. i dont know how, but they cause more problems than they solve under everyday circumstances. for any sort of off pistte though, fair enough. my buddy front flipped a small cliff the other day (15/20ft or so) and hit his knees to his face and fractured his jaw in 2 places.

I wear one biking all the time, but I'm selling it now because you don't think it looks cool. That's all I really got it for anyway.

But seriously, who are you to judge people like that? Maybe the little kid just thinks it looks cool or his parents care a lot about his safety. Does this affect you in any way at all? If you're going to get this worked up about nothing, you really need to find a different sport.

And as for your comment about height restrictions......wow. Shit happens, and I've definitely gotten bloody lips and black eyes from going too far forward on 20 footers. Does this mean I suck? In your eyes, probably, but not all of us can be as rad as you are.

Grow up and find something better to do with your time.

thank you! im talking about 13-14 year olds when im speaking on this! by the way i wear a helmet that is ment for skiing and shit...... not a full face 50 pound moto-cross helmet.

i probably owuldnt even callout someone wearing those fullfaces ment for like downhill and that shit, there light and small and dont look fucking rediculous. maybe your thinking im talking about those, but really only speaking on things the size of mars.

Hypocrisy much? Mouth guards have been empirically proven to not have any effect on concussions. Mouth guard companies started saying that they did, then research proved they do nothing. They will help you not break your teeth, but do you really think a piece of rubber between your teeth is going to stop a concussion? Maybe you should back up your opinions with some facts for once, and not wikipedia.

I used to wear one, and wish I did this season. I got off balance on a hit, in the park (not a big mountain line), and put a ski pole through my chin/bottom mouth and it went all the way through to the gums and now I have a gross scar in two places because they couldn't stitch it up.

You seem to be the one getting mostly upset in this thread, and I am not sure why. I think it makes sense personally. You are more concerned with how a skier might appear or the impression he might give off rather than how you will look for feel the rest of your life. I used to think the same as you did, so I don't blame you. But I tell you, after all the hospital visits and now scars that people and myself have to look at for the rest of my life I'd rather go with a full face any day, not know how to ski and have people laugh at me from the lift than mess myself up permanently in an attempt to look better.

End of thread.

yeah i think they're real gay there is like this asian kid at loon that wears a seth pro helmet and he looks like a homo skiing groomers and not having twins just old racing skis

Hey, I think full face helmets aren't that bad. Two days ago I was at the ski hill (Tyrol Basin) and my buddies and I met a gentleman by the name "Dust Cloud." He had new public enemies and a full face helmet. Later we found out he was wearing full body armor. But he was about 40-50 and just started jumping and he was trying 180's and shit. I thought that was pretty cool that he was going out and giving it, while rocking the full face with pride.

so if you ever go to tyrol and see a man with pe's and a full face helmet, ask him to ski some runs with you.

I wear one when I snowmobile/ski. The sled kicks up some serious chunks of ice at your face. I have had 3 teeth replaced due to impact, and it is not cheap, arounrd $1200-$1500 per tooth. I could have bought lots of skis or put a down payment on a new sled. Not to mention my parents were none too psyched because they paid for me to have braces for 4 years prior. There is nothing wrong with protecting the investment you made in your teeth if you happen to be someone that has or has had braces. Your smile is important, especially with the ladies. You are welcome to think I am a pussy, I don't care, I'll have nice teeth.

you're an asshole. If people choose to wear something for protection you're in no position to judge them. I used to wear a full face and I'm positive it stoped from break my nose at least 3 times.

I no longer wear one, and I find it easier to do flips and spins without it, but I have since broken my nose and had many black eyes from knees to the face.

You have no idea about other people injury history they might have a wired jaw or something worse.

first off to the creater of this thread... ur a fuckin moron, now let me tell u why.

I don't have a full face, but i would love to get one. Earlier this year i was skiing i line i've skiied plenty of times before, that has a blind rollover, tight trees and then a cliff.... prolly only 25 to 30 feet. i straightlined through the trees and came off slightly unbalance, i stomped my landing, but took a knee to the face. My knee torn the cartiledge between my nostriiles, and ripped my nose 3/4 the way off. i had to get 20 stiches in my nose, and it all could have been avoided my wearing a full face.

so i ask you, why would you ever create a thread that promotes being less safe?

you guys pick and choose soooo fucking much in threads...

a couple times i have stated that it doesnt boil my soul its a thought that popped into my head and now that this thread was created i translated a simple thought in my head onto the computer screen. i could care less what the kid wears. i dont care, but i DO have an opinion on it. seeing someone with a fullface doesnt make me feel anything really, i just go that looks silly. i stated the slapping thing just because, i had no feelings of anger towards the poor kid, im having a discussion on the internet about something i think looks kind of silly. soooo what???? you all get your panties in a bunch like im the kind of kid that would ever go up to somebody and hate on them in real life, or tell the poor guy what i thought about him, its a simple thought that im sharing with you.

and height restrictions? what the fuck are you talking about? i never said anything about not getting hurt on anything less than 50 feet.

you can get hurt popping off a mogul. but i dont think a 70 pound moto helmet is necessary and i think it looks a little silly. i think you guys need to get off your high horse "OMG LET PEOPLE WHERE WHAT THEY WANT" well guess what assholes i do. i dont go up to people and go im god take that off you cant wear it. but if i think it looks dumb i sure as hell might think to myself "by golly that looks dumb"

smiley-who_fucking_cares.jpg

People need to stop worrying about what other people wear.

Weak. What if someone doesn't have a helmet designed for skiing or snowboarding but they have one for another sport and choose to protect themelves by wearing when they do happen to ski or board? This thread is so pathetic..

i should restate the thread i guess.

body armor will prevent more injuries (serious, season ending injuries) than full faces. from the people i've asked with full faces (not in a demeaning manner), they dont wear any body armor...

then why is the purchase of full faces more prevalent than body armor?

why do u think jamie pierre wears a back plate, but no helmet? (i know he probably should, the fact is that he's better and has more experience than most of you will ever care to know)

ur right who fuckin cares? we should keep with the traditional newschoolers format and worry ourselves more about whether to buy an oakley or orage one piece. what color makes me the most gangster?

dont come at me with "who cares what anybody wears", because the fact of the matter is that you are newschoolers, and jibbers care so much more about how they're perceived than what you will actually admit. i know i've seen more than a few simon look alikes this year. but who am i to judge, all they're doing is expressing themselves through clothing identical to dumont.

im done u guys win.

Really? What about someone like Billy Poole who just died from a head injury doing what he does on a normal skiing day. I don't know the details of that crash, but I know that a full face would have likely increased the chance that he would still be alive today (he may have even been wearing one).

and yeah, some people just do not like body armor. having worn it, I sometimes find it way to hot. Others seem to find a helmet to protect their head more important, which IMO is the more important part of your body to protect. Without question.

They can fix a lot in your body, but it is hard to fix your head when you really fuck it up.

And Jamie Pierre is an idiot. He apparently used to have seizures like once of twice a year in the mountains while just doing nothing. he was there, and then he would just start to seize up. Even though at the height he was dropping the helmet wasn't going to make or break his chances at survival, it for sure would have decreased the risk he was putting his head through.

And I would just add that a lot of people on here are not the new school bitches you are referring to. I agree it is stupid to follow trends, but to say that is what everyone does is ignorant, as is assuming that this is a website of park skiers. I know a lot of people who never ski park at all on here. I haven't been in a park in 3 seasons now....

And it is pretty hypocritical to bitch about people wearing full faces but criticize everyone else for worrying about what people wear. Just worry about yourself. If your face is able to withstand the impact of a knee on a drop less than 50 feet, which you described above as not painful, then rally on and do not wear a full face.

But if I am dropping 30 footers with speed and want to keep all my teeth, a full face seems pretty fucking logical.

people dont wear it to be cool they do it because they want a safer helmet. What is wrong with that?

soooooooo if i wore 30 pounds of bubble wrap you wouldnt think in your head..... "wow that looks silly" well ummm it would be for protection so since its for protection its not allowed to look silly???? wow you guys are soooo cool.
