How's the season going? I really want to ski and I saw Liberty posted a pic from Threadbo... It was pow. I was really jealous. and out of curiosity, when does the season start and end?

We have had a pretty good early season so far. Perisher and Thredbo has some really good parks set up. I've been having alot of fun riding up at perisher.

Season runs from mid june - mid october.

This was the opening park video. There is another 30 footer in there now. But they should have the 4 jump line up soon. (30ft - 65ft) There is a heap more rails in now to

Don't come to aus for pow, you will be heavily disappointed. If you are going anywhere in aus go to perisher for park, and in my opinion Thredbo is more free ride. Don't waste your time anywhere else in Australia. It gets expensive for what you get!

Hotham isnt flat at all- you're probably thinking of Falls Creek. Hotham's terrain consists of steep, fun gullys that end in creeks. The park at Hotham is pretty shit though

just gonna jump in here, in about a month, after hsc trials, will be going down to thredbo or perisher for friday - mon/tuesday. will be driving down from sydney and will have two spare seats. if anyone is keen then let me know. i dont have any friends that ski so need to spread the expenses as best i can. hit us up with a pm if anyones interested.

Dude I shred buller almost all year round. I have been to almost every mountain except Baw Baw, which is just shit. Hotham is very flat with a shit park and no one up there does much freeriding. Maybe Jake Rast and his mates but thats it. Falls is shit early season. They only ever put effort into their park when they have a bumper season. I enjoy Buller because it has a VERY strong freeride community. Consisting of Watkin, Johnny, Ryley, Ollie and others. Thredbo and Perisher (especially Perisher) are the pioneers to freeriding in australia. Almost all the comps are at Thredbo and Perisher. They manage to maintain a high snow depth and build awesome parks. There is a downside of all this. It is extremely expensive and it is much cheaper to just fly yourself to NZ

Ever heard of Andrea Binning? One of Australia's greatest freeriding exports? She skis Hotham. Or Billy Barker who is one of, if not the main guide at Gulmarg? He skis Hotham. Just because you dont know anyone that skis at Hotham doesnt mean it has no freeriding community. And Hotham isnt flat. If you think that then you havent skied it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/gmwils/2814318010/ Check this shit out and get educated. But yeah Hotham park is shit

Australia's mountains are hills. They're tiny compared to most US resorts.

Thredbo is probably the best all around mountain.

Perisher has the best park.

Buller is probably the best all around mountain after Thredbo. Decent park and decent terrain. But if you're going you'd want someone who skis there regularly as the best terrain isn't well marked.

Falls Creek is flat but has a good park usually by the middle of the season.

Hotham has decent skiing but a shitty park. Again you'd want someone who skis regularly to show you around, I didn't like it there until I had some locals show me around.

Baw Baw has a decent park but it's tiny.

we had a kickass start to the season, but its just rained 4 days in a row, its my day off and im in jindy instead of skiing, pretty gay...

well thanks for the blunt answer. sounds like you're still having much more fun than us snowless folk. i've heard thredbo is the best

this. except buller is average. it cops all the melbourne weekend punters and so far this season has missed out on and major snowfall.

perisher has good parks but i hate the rest of it, i recon it is flat crowded and boring.

Good so far dood!! Couple of pure spring days recently though, so much sun! We need more snow.

Had my first ever slopestyle comp on the weekend! Came 2nd! Yew! :D Just thought i'd throw that in there.... Come shred Aus!

thredbo just finished off their 6 jump line. 35 40 45 55 55 70. the 70 looks incredible. the jump charles built last year at the bottom there was so money so i dont doubt that it is an awesome jump line once he puts in the rail antons will be one of the best parks in aus. perisher is super fun but the speed for the last two jumps is fucked. russ and a few others have been making the bottom but super sketchy

MANN FALLCREEK. It soo fucking dope right now, such a good park! They had a big air comp on Saturday 65+ft jumps and the notorious "FallsCreek Rainbow".I have heard Hotham has been sweet and Buller has been pretty good but the Interschool races are coming up soon with the crowds...

Yeh ive been struggling on the bottom jump a few weeks back at perisher. Havn't been up since they made it bigger tho. Russ and charlie timmins were gettng over it. I heard rumors that Boen wrecked himself pretty badly 2 weeks ago though. Im back at perisher this weekend, hopfully the weather clears up!

I have hit all but the 70fter in Antons, havent even seen it yet, been stuck in thredboland skiing with 5 year olds :p, might be up there on saturday though

i wear blue pants and grey jacket/hoody, POC helmet, give us a shout is you see me, name is Robin

This is great. Another cashed up Buller kid who thinks 'freeriding' is limited to the park. Hotham has the best terrain IMO and some of the skiers here (Buff Farnell etc.) absolutely dominate the true freeriding scene. Hothams park is terrible so if your coming for that dont bother, but if your someone who can appreciate steep runs and amazing terrain i'd recommend it. Also I think by 'Jake Rast and his mates' you mean me because I shred with him everyday. One last point here is Johnny Lipzker at Hotham http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/418630_10151020855849003_1047977140_n.jpg

Antons park at Thredbo is crazy sick right now. Jump 5 is just a pile of snow in this pic. It's a 70' step over now. There is a down tube into rail options on the top 2 jumps, a huge butter pad on the 3rd jump followed by a 55'er and a 70'er. Winched landings = steep, long landings.

That's a great story!

However, I said Hotham isnt flat and then posted a picture of a steep run with cliffs. That isnt the whole mountain, just one run. Silly American trying to talk about things he has never heard of...

I didn't read through the whole thread, but i'd imagine he is referring to the fact that you've never been to any of the places you are talking about.
