So if you ever have had knee problems/pain you know it sucks. Patellar tendonitis ACL, MCL etc. So as of right now, I currently have some tendinitis and it BLOWS. So if anyone has any tips on how to get rid of this shit etc please post away..
Please no hate.

RICE: rest, ice, compress, elevate.
also, sometimes saunas can help to relax/make your knees more comfortable.

more often than not knee and lower back problems are caused by an imbalance of the gluteus medius, and the lack of muscular coordination. check out these videos and most of all YOGA
Yoga is your best friend, after years of being told my hips and back were twenty years older than my body I found a physio that could help. He said that merely stretching was not enough because it was just mindless sitting there and your muscles would always end up doing what they do best, reverting back to normal. What needs to be done is that the muscles need to learn how to be coordinated so that you don't rely on any single muscle too much, causing stress on joints. Do yoga and your body will learn mindfulness and proprioception.
also check these out, i know they say back but if done properly they will save you from so many injuries. Especially do the glute med ones.

Yeah, I guess it is. But it is for knee injuries. Not chronic knee pains. If he is having chronic pains, that isn't really the solution.

I had surgery to repair a cracked femur under the kneecap a few years back and it still bothered me quite a while after the cast came off and completed the physical therapy. A buddy told me try acupuncture and I thought that stuff was a crock of shit. I swear after a few appointments it relieved somuch of the stress. My knee doesn't bother me at all nemore.

swimming is the best thing you can do. takes the pressure of your joints while allowing them to move throughout their full range of motion, and the fact that your body is horizontal as you swim allows for good blood flow, which is another thing that helps with the healing process and reduction of swelling.

i had osgood schlatters for a few years. that sucked now i have shin splints and i almost broke both knees one in june one in late july so now they are both kind of fucked gotta love the state of my legs. rarely get to move around without some form of pain

Many people have weak legs, which causes their problems. Get strong so your muscles take the punishment, and not you tendons/ligaments/misc structures of the knee.

i broke my knee and ive been doing a lot of streching in the sauna and steam room, but at first a lot of elevation, icing and resting, now im working on strenght

my dad has no cartilage in his knees anymore so his inner knee rubs against his bone and gives him excrutiating pain, he had 3 surgeries on one of his knees

I have stretched lateral ligaments and little tears in my meniscus.

You best bet is ice, light stretching and strengthening of your ITB (the muscle on the inside of your leg that works with your quad). Even just tensing it and relaxing it working on activating the muscle will help.

I got patella tendonitis, kinda lame but not that bad... In physical therapy, I can play pretty much any sport just hurts a bit, need to get it fixed b4 winter tho.

we're all so screwed in later life. if you think of the pain we have now think how bad it'll be when we're 40+

well this is fucked. so going on three summers ago i hurt my knee pretty bad skiing at Hood. So a while goes on, just kinda let my knee bother me until finally i couldnt take it anymore and i went to the doctors. after months of them not being able to figure out what was wrong, they go in my knee for exploratory surgery, see that my plica is clipped and catching on my knee, and remove it.

what i later find out is that instead of removing it, they should have replaced it because now i have a muscle that runs from the inside of my left knee, to the outside of my left upper hip, that is always inflamed, rubbing against shit, and just hurts all the time.

mehhh

I have had 14 knee surgeries. 3 ACLs in the last 5 years. just had meniscus surgery in september. You definently want to check out:

cortizone injection/steriod shot

-if you have health insurance and chronic knee pain, it def works for up to 6 months masking the pain, then you can get it again. Google it.

don't get a steroid shot its horrible for you. like the negatives do not outweigh the positives.
i'd go with what kp said about RICE... but thats only if its inflamed and irritated. if its giving you chronic pain then heat is best. if it doesn't get better go see a physiotherapist and they'll give you a routine to help make it better.
i'm studying massage therapy and i had patellar femoral syndrome, a medial patella dislocation and a torn mcl so thats where my info comes from.

i worded that wrong. haha i'm at work and half asleep... the negatives outweigh the positives for sure.
also like someone else said... muscle imbalances. i know that my patella femoral syndrome was cause from my L1/L2 vertabra locking my nerves which caused my quad medialis to not fire.

does anyone know of a good leg workout that will help keep my knees strong? If I can make it through the season without a knee injury I'd be forever grateful.

search bar.
squats.
high resistance cycling.
lunges (but with a keen eye on form otherwise they can lead to more knee pain).

you need to build up the muscles around your knees, ie your quads and hammies.
best way to do that, go squat, straight leg deadlift and deadlift.
your legs are extremely responsive to most rep ranges, so something along the lines of 8, 6, 4, 15 could work. remember to warm up (personally preferring cycling or rowing as running isn't nice to knees) and warm down.

GET DOCTOR MADE ORTHOTICS

i had patella tendon problems, arch problems, lower back problems, everything. and i am a huge athelete.

i got doctor made orthotics, completely covered under insurance. all my problems are gone. best thing i've ever gotten. seriously.

do not waste your time with Dr. Scholl's and that shit

I have a fucked up shoulder i overroatated a flatspin and took all my wieght on my left arm from like 8 feet up plus the flybed reboubded into it too. I tore my rotator cuff and i didnt heal right so i pop my shoulder out real easy now. Popped it out twice today. It doesnt come completley out just like hlafway but it hurts like hell. Sirschralpsalot was skiing like 7 feet away from me and heard it pop back in (i was doing a nose butter hand drag) injuries suck.

ok so i have patella tendonitis in both knees and my right knee has a torn mincus along with IT band tendonitis. so pretty much my knees suck. but u patella bands help alot. u can go out and buy one or roll up prewrap and use that. Here is a picture from soccer season to show what im talking about, IT band is on top of the right knee and the patella is below the knee.

get a brace that puts pressure on the tendon that is bothering u. Also if you exercise it somtimes it can go away. Most of the time the problem is because the Knee has been weekend and so you stop useing it as much and it becomes so much weeker than the other knee that you develope tendonitus. Idk this is just what my docter told me. Im sure u can find some exercises on line.

Hope tis helps. Knee problems as a skier sucks.

skiing gave me a wonderfully torn acl, fractured tibia, and patellar tracking syndrome. its a bitch. the best thing thats helped me has been physio, definitely. and what i usually do, is put one of those gloves heating pads under a tensor while i ski, cause the cold definitely agitates it.

I have chronic pain in my knee, "inflamed patella" and it never goes away, ive had it since i was like 12, im 17 right now. it brutal, i have a brace for it but it kinda sucks to wear
