Tired of sun and no snow in Tahoe

Yep! Last weekend wasnt too bad, but we get all the Californians this weekend so that kinda sucks too

At least you don't live in Washington or Schweitzer. In a month I've seen no snow and 3 sunny days.

Dude this winter in Tahoe has sucked and it's not really looking that great anytime soon. Have you seen any of the long term forecasts? We're supposed to be getting maybe a foot up top in the next week and a half and it's looking pretty dry beyond that.

I've lived out here for three years now and every winter has been getting worse. Unless a Miracle March comes along, I'm gonna start putting some firm belief in climate change and how it's fucking us over.

Uhh no dude. Last season was bad then we got fucking dumped. This season we've been dry for a bit lately but got fucking dumped earlier and we're at 60% of the avg snowfall 50% into the season.

This season isn't bad at all and we're getting like 20" possible next week. Go wax your pow skis. Gonna go huck cliffs at alpine with buddies this Friday. Gonna be so sick

Lets keep this thread updated I am going to have a decision to make 1 week from now whether I return to the Tahoe area for 4 weeks of spring skiing and a little golf (will stay through the 24th or so of March not gonna stay shorter b/c if I come I'll have to stay through first weekend of march madness and win on some hoops to justify cost) or if I go back to my moms basement back east after a long 6 months of traveling and save some $.

I'm 50-50 right now on which I chose, 20 inches this week at Kirkwood with another foot plus next will be enough to swing it I think. Gambling money excluded its prob gonna cost me 60-70 ish bucks a day between gas, food, casino room and golfing I'm only up to drop that if I have good snow. I had a solid 2 months in Tahoe from Early November-Mid January anyways.

it was always supposed to be like late today + tonight thing i think

it was snowing hard in grass valley and placerville earlier. now it's moving up

Its been another questionable winter up here in Alberta, haven't had a real dump in months. It's just weird how its happened two years in a row, hopefully the first half of March will be different

it's the same in Idaho, especially at Bogus Basin... the past 2 years have just been horrible!! They only have 34" right now. and that's the most they've had all year

BA predicted 12~18" for the crests west of the lake so kirky will prob get 1'+ if the prediction comes true.

going alpine this friday. there better be some sick snow left over haha i'm hitting bc with friends

no, you are an idiot.

3 years ago was a near record year(lots), 2 years ago WAS a record year(lots), last year was a near record year(low snow), and this year is looking to end up right around average.

the last 4 years in a row we have had a month or more in Januauary-February straight without snow...including the record setting year.

you are not a local. you are a transplant. Stop acting like you have an old saltdog's experince in the Tahoe area.

BRO! Two years ago was BOMB, last year sucked, and this year is shaping up to suck as well. Not trying to have this all knowing "I'm a Tahoe local" contagious douchebag attitude that you obviously have, I was just saying that the last 3 seasons have been progressively worse thus far, and I don't think I'm that wrong really.

But you're the man dude, since you're from Tahoe and grew up here. Man do I hate people like you.

Whats the part of Kirkwood they closed off to prepare for that competition?

I know the Cirque is always closed and thought that is where the competitions were.

Im not even claiming I'm some local, but 3 years ago - great 2 years ago unbelieveable, 1 year ago - terrible, this year about average. Just look at the nmbers

You probably wouldn't be able to ski half the shit people here are talking about.

Either way would you rather be in utah or colorado?

People bitching about snow in Tahoe need to STFU. How about you stop going off of "first hand experience" and look at the numbers.

Tahoe has the best terrain in the USA (We host a FWT stop and have the most big mountain pros on it) and it's either Sunny for days or dumping feet. Yeah the sierra cement might come in every now and again but remember that without that shit you wouldn't be able to ski half the fuckin lines you're able to.

meh it's all relative come down dude

i just want to hit some sick bc spots with friends but can't with this no snow shit

This is it. Tahoe is the best in the United States. Need to go to the Alps and maybe Western Canada for equal skiing. JH/Utah are close but that's basically it everywhere else is sort of gaper shit in this country in comparison.

Terrian is bomb. Squaw, Kirkwood, Rose, are better than anywhere in the United States. Alpine Sierra, Sugarbowl, Heavenly, and Northstar all are legit even if they aren't my favorites none actually suck.

Takes a steaming dump on Colorado (especially Summit Co some of the southern CO mountians are good). The downsides are some dumps are super wet, and there is usually a long ass spell somewhere each winter with no snow.

But its not cold around Tahoe, you can leave your boots in the car at night and not regret it. The area gets legit cold for maybe 2-3 weeks around new years and thats it.

Lodging around tahoe mountains is peanuts compared to Colorado and even Utah. Tons of cheap places north and south lake. And the casinos in Nevada are dirt cheap too. Same distance from the Bay Area as decent New England mountains are from Boston and NYC.
