I can hit rails, 360, BS 270 out, etc. but on film it doesn’t look clean (arm flail & shit like that) any tips on how to stomp shit more smooth, keep things tight n steezy?

If there was an easy trick to having style we’d all be swag gods.

Sadly though there isn’t, you just gotta practice and be comfortable enough to make those adjustments to your tricks.

I don’t ski anymore and never had good tricks/good style but here’s my 2 cents

Big clothes, especially pants, hide your movement, things will look smoother bc you cant see how rigid you are with baggy clothes.

id say speed probably helps, hitting features fast always looks better than slow

repetition, repetition, repetition, do your tricks over and over and over and over and over again until you don’t even have to think about. Being comfortable with your maneuvers will help lessen the amount of flail you have when trying tricks.

if it feels good, it probably looks good, so to my last point if you do a trick and it feels perfect, figure out what you do to make it feel like that and drive it into your brain.

watch people that inspire you and try and take influence from what they do and apply to it to your own riding.

if you just recently learned these tricks it’ll probably take a few years to develop your style, the pros have been doin this shit forever that’s why they look as good as they do. Everybody looks like shit when they first start, some grow out of it, some don’t

hope this helps

put your hands in your pockets when you do tricks. But tbh most people don’t like their own voice their own face their own style etc so it’s probably kind of a waste of time trying to get film of tricks you like.

Appreciate it boys, started 3 years ago but this is the first year truly ripping park/urban so im landing shit and progressing rn just have to clean it all up

Honestly, if you land your trick and it feels good, that’s your style. Don’t force it, everyone has different style, just keep skiing and as long as you feel good when you’re doing tricks just own it that’s all u bro

be loose. when the cams out don’t be thinking about it like a performance or some shit. also you can have good style without big pants

Jossi wells and max hill are two of the most stylish skiers of all time that come to mind

Here’s how! Do the tricks over and over and over again. Really take the time and bond with the ones you wanna be nice at. You can’t get an effortless looking swagger if the trick isn’t actually effortless to you.

Man, this is becoming so popular lately, it’s pretty interesting. These young park rats land the trick they want and BAM... on to the next one, never mastering any of them. It’s definitely ambitious, but I blame IG. They don’t wanna post the same trick over n over so they do a million different ones but they all look like it’s the first try ?‍♀️

Black and baggy hides imperfections, but at the end of the day style is making a trick look easy to people that don’t ski. Pretty much just repetition and making the trick feel like you could do it on repeat for hours

Repetition, repetition, repetition. Do that shit all day long every run, constantly. Build the muscle memory so you can do it blind. Whatever the trick is include it in every run all season long. If it's a jump trick, every other run just do it doesn't get stale on your hill/mountain's jump line. Just keep doing it and getting more comfortable with it. Expecting to have great style in one season is a fools errand, it comes with age and commitment.

I mean that's kind of extremely normal with every generation. That's also the best way to get good, continuously learning new tricks lol

It’s like people have never watched this I see people not ride 400 500 feet out after the feature banging all the time like come on

ill just be real with u, it sounds like ur pretty young, and tbh until u get older, nothing u do is gonna look steezy. theres a term "little kid style" that gets thrown around in action sports for a reason. it takes time to develop a sense of style and perfect it. when ur young, u dont have ur peak coordination skills, and ur still yet to understand a lot of what makes a trick look good, just cuz u lack experience

dont feel bad or discouraged tho, everyone on this website including myself went thru the same shit. its kinda like skiing puberty. gotta go thru the awkward years to get to the glory years.

now i do FAT cork 3 truckers into pow and feel so boss

^^^best advice

“Let the style come naturally”

”If it feels good it looks good”

Nah most stylish pros say the were “inspired” by other skiers. Aka take the best elements of other peoples styles and add your own flair. Nothing wrong with actively trying to ski better in my opinion.

Watch a lot of videos of the skiing that you like. And also watch your own skiing a lot. You wanna know what you look like when you ski and also when your comfortable doing a trick you will subconsciously(or consciously) bring in the style from the skiers you watch

I was just addressing OPs point on how to be more stylish. Also I guess so.. I just grew up with a much less competitive mindset towards park skiing. Learning a trick wasn’t finished until it looked sexy… all I’m sayin is skiers often skip that crucial final step just to be “the best” or to be the first of their peers to do it

Idk tho, like when stylish skiers are learning tricks their first stomp on personal NBD’s look sexy even without the muscle memory or repetition. Like one of my friends is learning k feds rn and his first time landing one was more stylish than any trick I’ve ever done, I think some people also just have the sauce ya know

Style or skill has nothing to do with age.

I landed my first 540 at 21 years old, first 4 out at 22, first 720 at 23.

Just landed my first flat 3 a couple weekends ago.

I went through my cringey ski puberty in my early 20s, tried all sorts of different styles techniques and found my own.

I am by no means an expert, but this is how I see it.

1. Learn shit both ways. Aka learn all 8. I know nothing about jump style but if you want to take your general skiing to another level, learn all 8. Its probably the most pivotal milestone in the progression of skiing. Opens up a million different doors. Versatility across the board will really allow yourself to hoan in and stylize the stuff you find fun, and it’ll make it a hell of a lot easier to learn new stuff. Maybe if you like jumps, learn your spins and grabs both ways. Same benefits.

2. Repetition. Plain and simple, the easier it is for you to do a trick, the better it’s gonna look. The more of your own flavor will be on it.

3. do what’s fun. “style” isn’t necessarily landing every trick bolts every time with arms glued at the sides. It’s doing shit you enjoy, comfortably. your skiing will eventually separate itself from the rest and become more unique. Whatever you find fun will make your style stand out more, because your trick selection will be something that’s a characteristic of your skiing. if you have a lot of fun throwing, say, 270s on and off, and you do them a shit ton, you’ll put your own flavor on it without even realizing it. You’ll find cool and fun ways to vary the trick that’ll make it unique to yourself

4. this one’s more opinionated, but I think 99% can agree… tricks always look 10x better with a clean landing. Aka landing with both your feet rather close together and hitting the snow at the same time.

5. Be nice. Be friendly. Styles are so much more appreciated when you’re a cool dude ( or gal, don’t matter). Ugly personality = ugly skiing, every time. Befriending people on the hill and riding with new homies, perhaps those are who are “better” than you will bring forth tons of inspiration. You’ll be motivated to do more, and then when you’re doing more, your homies are motivated to do more. It’s a beautiful cycle. The nicer you are, the happier you will be, the more FUN you’ll have skiing. Period. That’s the ultimate goal right???

I know this is a lot and I probably repeated some points over and over but that’s the best take I can put on it. Hope this helps.

Keep doing it over and over and eventually it would be comfortable enough to add the steeze

Film yourself, a lot. Get that feedback loop going so you can see how you look, make changes, and see progress quickly.

Focus on being smooth, especially arm and pole movement. Practice your tricks so you have them nailed, and try to keep your balance sharp so you don't need to flail in the first place. You can do drills like skiing with hands in pockets etc, might help.

Watch some of your favorite skiers styles and try to pick out what makes them so dope. The way Phil Casabon seems to be always pressing into everything? The sheer speed of everything Candide skis? The crazy energy Sammy C shows popping and slashing everything? Maybe you prefer a different skiers style for a different reason? try to emulate them. Eventually you want to develop your own unique style, but a little inspiration to start can be powerful.

Once you see your skiing start to look good in clips, try to always ski like that. Make those motions muscle memory, so they are the default setting even for new learns or sketchy saves.

And remember its hard to have good style, that's why its so respected

Goated take honestly. Been implementing mostly all of these points in my skiing/life for the last year or two, and it has made both so much more fucking fun for me which at the end of the day is all that matters.

Something that helped me especially when I was younger was watching videos of my skiing over and over again. Like an obsessive amount. Another thing that helped me is finding someone who has a desirable style to YOU, not to other people. Try to throw some of their flavor into your skiing here and there. Try different things and see what feels good, and what looks good to you because IT LITERALLY DOESN'T MATTER. Just have fun.

Honestly just pretend ur the shit when ur skiing and own it, but remember that you are pretending and are in fact not the shit until you drop into ur line again. I see so many dudes who are great who just hold so much power back because they want the "sleepy style" the sleepy style isn't achieved by lazy riding, all those dudes with sleepy style are absolutely fucking dialed into the moment when they are skiing, the sleepyness is just a flow state.
