Title says it, looking for knowledge on searching for internships & or companies with good opportunities, etc.

I'm currently a sophomore studying Cinema/Film at the University of Iowa

Get out into the world, meet people!

Go to film-maker meet and greet's, volunteer at film festivals, meet the people in your industry by being active in that industries community!

Other than that contact the companies in your areas that you'd like to intern at and see if they have an intern program or if you can volunteer for them. Just be careful about volunteering, because people will take advantage of that.

Your biggest asset is networking. I have been fortunate to get two great internships because I knew someone, I was an Interactive Media intern at Cedar Point last summer, one of my friends from college was helping to hire for the position.

Now I am a broadcasting intern with the Detroit Lions, a guy I met through my brothers racing career knew the guy hiring and helped me get the job.

Like others have said just put yourself out there. Contact a company and never give up on getting in with them. Sometimes they aren't looking for someone but will make an exception if someone shows the motivation and hard work. Like always look online and just see what is out there, make sure you are looking at areas you want to work in.

I'm a senior in high school and I'm interested in studying marketing and film in college. So far I've had 2 marketing internships, both paid,a marketing position at a ski resort that I just started (paid), and i'm trying to set up another internship right now. On the film side I've freelanced my way to a spot on a couple of different vendor list. All i've done to actually get these positions is ask. Honestly, all you have to do is try to make connections, not be an asshole, and genuinely want to learn. On a side note, see if your college has a careers search office and if it does they can probably help you find an internship.

Im a recent film grad, and I'm dying to work for level 1 some day.

Your biggest goal would be to network and market yourself. Throw all your content out on the media and hand out business cards to people with links to your work on it. Honestly this industry really is just all about networking and who you know. So but in and make yourself known!!

What's up Jace and Will, this is Andrew Skalak. I didn't know Iowa had a film program. I am at Columbia College in Chicago.

What up man, yeah Iowa's program is decent I'm just starting to get into the more advanced classes. How's Columbia?

Reach out to places whose work you like, regardless if they advertise internships or not.

All the internships I've had were never advertised. If you have good work, most places will be happy at least talk to you about potentially being an intern.
