I started working on surface swaps today, any tips on sticking the swap better? I know I’m not rotating enough but any advice for getting further around?

With swaps for me it's important to have a good set for your first initial ski slide, focus on that first and the swap will come after

Yeah, it wasn’t my best initial slide, I’m still a little iffy cuz I’ve only really been doing rails somewhat consistent since last season

I think back is easier to learn just hop on and then bring your feet together

Ahh I get you, I kinda envisioned doing something like that, I just decided to give it a try today with really no previous knowledge besides just seeing it done

should I swap the same way that I hop on?

I think start trying the swap as like an early 270 off with no hop. do the swap at the very end and go to switch rather than forward (for front swap).

Also I think learning blind surface will really help because if forces you to commit to bringing it around.

you have to commit your full body rather than just shifting your hips

trying to do the swap with a blast of energy and aggression will help. really put your heart into it my king

remember to drink runa clean energy my young bull

1. As [tag=244295]@weastcoat[/tag] said, go way slower, you’re going to fast you have no time to think about the trick let alone have time to throw it.

2. Picture in your head doing the trick before you attempt it.

3. If you can front 2, you can front swap. Just do the front 2 before you come off the rail.

4. I think in order to get clean swaps, you gotta start being confident in hitting tubes and rails unnatural. This has really helped me as of late.

Learn unnatural slides to switch off so you can learn to fully turn on and lock the rail. Probably learn switch on's too so your on for a full 90 st some point.

Itd help if you didnt start on the rail at 5050

Go a little slower so you actually have time to set the trick.

I took y'alls advice, I didn't get the swap yet, but ended up learning lip on and it honestly makes it way easier to get on the rail going slow, and also actually rotating a full 90

I took a step back and realized I am gonna work on back and front 2 and clean them up before I go for the surface

vid is a lip on to switch, not necessarily my slowest one from that sesh but it sure was pretty greasy besides almost eating shit in a bomb hole

lmaooo also didn't realize the audio on that, enjoy whatever the fuck my sister was singing

-Start with your feet wider apart and then bring them together as you do the swap

-rotate more with your shoulders and hips

- try and do an early front 270 out of the rail with no pop, this should make you do a front surface swap to switch right at the end of the rail and will give you a good starting point to improve.

go wayyyy slower , whenever i am learning new swaps/combos I go super slow to make sure i have enough time on the rail to do the trick

also helps when the rail is buttery
