Tips for better 270s on

So I’ve been working on 270s on this season, I have been able to do them in the past but not consistently or confidently onto rails. My main pain point is

getting centered over the rail when coming on urban and I think it’s partly because I’m so worried about clipping my tips on the feature. I naturally slide left foot forward so I am not used to spinning left on urban features from the right side of the rail and I think because of this I may be aiming to land to high up on the feature/not being patient enough on takeoff. It also doesn’t help when the lips of the takeoff are narrow bc I find it hard to get a good pop when my feet are so close together. So my main thought for building more confidence on this would be to get comfortable sliding right foot forward (which I should do anyways) so that I’m more confident spinning left onto the rail from the right side, but not sure if this would help. Does anyone have any advice and or tips? Here are clips for reference and note the rail clip on one of the vids…

They arn't looking too bad at all my man! If you want to further improve, focus on loading up your tails on the takeoff, while initiating with your upper body (like you already are). Never do this trick coming straight onto a feature, only do it from the side for the time being because that's the correct way to learn and apply it to most rails. You want to clear your noses and then pull the whole thing around. The way I think of it, is the pop comes from your tails. You have a bit of a linebacker approach where you just literally jump straight up. That doesn't pull your noses up and if anything it can make them dip lower than you want which is where you might hang up.

So, come in from the side, initiate with your upper body, pull back and load up the tails. As you're coming off the takeoff, clear your noses and pull the whole thing around. Doing it that way is way more efficient than trying to hop straight up and down, it lets the takeoff do more work and as you get better at it, you'll be able to pull it really high.

Here's a mediocre example of what I'm talking about. Notice how I'm not jumping, not working very hard, not having to rush or do anything rowdy. It's smooth and efficent.

They look good man. You have plenty of pop in each of those videos which is the important part. Try to do a couple of them every single day. It's a hard trick to keep consistent unless you do them all of the time imo

Thank you so much for this tip I really appreciate it, and after reviewing the footage I agree 100 percent, this is exactly the problem. Never really realized it until you pointed it out, but thats exactly how ive been trying to execute the trick is by jumping straight up on the pop which puts my skis at less of an upward angle at takeoff than if I were to pop from the tails. Going to try this for sure!!

Again, I really appreciate the in depth response, super helpful.

Hell yeah man, glad I could help. Hope you feel more confident with these after some practice :)

I know why! And so do you! Positive vibes only!

But where did steezyYeeter go? You know the answer to that too, and he didn't believe my last messages to him.... About a gang rape video ...

Another unwarranted ban...

in the exact same boat as OP and you hit the nail on the head. Not used to popping off tails spinning to the left onto things.

It's just a really efficient way to get the trick around and stay in composed. Jumping straight up and down makes you inevitably lose composure

yea makes sense. I need to just start popping off my tails when I hit stuff unnatural to get used to the motion or just do right 2s on since that's how I get on 90 or 180 but for some reason have never tried taking it to 270 even though 180s feel really comfortable that way.

gotta pick up ur knees as you do the 270, then you can put ur feet down on the rail with better timing and precision. also it means you will be less scared of catching your tips. But mainly just remember to pick up your knees!!

I am left foot forward and just land on the rail un natty. this is way easier for me than trying to spin un nat on and land sliding naturally.

The thing is I spin to the left naturally but slide left foot forward, mainly due to skateboarding regular for so long and doing 5050s.
