Obviously Im not qualified to make this decision. But what does NS think? Can this thing EVER end positively? If this is what happens when 2 BOOKS get destroyed I just dont know. Pull out completely and let the Afgani's work out their cultural problems on their own?

Its more than a book getting destroyed, its a holy text. Yes, I know you may not be religious, blah blah blah, I am not either, but you have to look in their eyes. You are watching some foreign white devil destroying what is most dear to you. ;)

what does that say about the rationality of people when pages in a book evokes such a violent reaction?

supposedly the book contained messages to prisoners, and thats not to say it couldnt have been handled better (why did anyone ever find out this happened?) so its not like it was some dude chanting 'Murica dancing around in a white robe burning their holy book while drinking coors light.
 
I'm pretty sure the story goes that they somehow made there way into the trash and since they burn all the trash on the bases the books made it to a burn pit. Since they have Afghans contracted out to do a lot of work on those bases they were burning trash and saw the Qurans and freaked the fuck out.
 
Honestly Muslims are the biggest fucking babies. A couple of holy books get burned and they all of a sudden think they have the right to kidnap people? riot? destroy public property and kill people? Same shit happened when that dude in Denmark drew a picture of Mohammed.

Muslims are constantly burning churches in North Africa, and spreading anti-Semitic propaganda in Arab nations and Iran. Do we get any apology? Do we have the right to riot and kill people over that? of course not.

And I hate hearing "oh... its only a small percent of muslims". Even if it is where are the Imams and Arab political figures condemning this outrageous behavior? Western Islamic institutions don't even publicly denounce this.

I am sick and tired of the West being scared of these fucking crybabies. If we have to use the stupid word offensive, it is incredibly offensive to those of us who believe in the enlightenment and the 1st amendment to have to constantly apologize to these psychopaths. Where is our apology? Yeah it was unfortunate that those books got burned. Burning of any books is bad in my opinion, but come on. How much more are we gonna tolerate this? All religion is nutty but these people take it to a whole other level.

 
honestly there are legitimate reasons arabs could be upset about with American and Israeli foreign policy but instead they go nuts when a fucking book is burned.
 
I say we oull out and prepare for iran. Lets give em what they want and let them run their own damn country so it can go back to the way it was before. We need to be preparing for WW3 with Iran anyways...
 
if you burned my old berenstain bears books i'd lose my mind too. the sentimental value of those things cannot even be explained.

organized religion is the root of the world's problems and at least an underlying cause of over 99% of the world's wars.

As Americans, we must abandon this notion that, for some reason, we have to be the babysitters and policers of the globe. Let them handle their own problems and only step in on other country's business when ABSOLUTELY necessary.
 
since they decided killing two people because of the burning of a book is justifiable, why don't we kill two anti-americans for every single American flag that has been burned in the last ten years? or even better bomb the fuck out of there cities until they raise an american flag... fucking pussies
 
The Middle East is such a goddamned shithole. Why do people even live their? Oh ya there's huge poverty and disease etc. but it's hard to grow any crops well or raise much livestock there. Yet they keep making fucking babies in the stupidest climate ever. Morons.
 
i understand that viewpoint but you have to see where the muslim religion is in terms of "development". they are some 600 years back in that regard.

if you burned a bible 600 years back in europe, you would have been burned too i guess.

it was a short sighted act of revenge when the US "invaded" afghanistan.

and dont get me started on "stopping global terrorism". with the money spend on the afghanistan war you could probably provide better airport security measures and idk how many fighter aircrafts you could afford patrolling your borders.

why dont you (and the NATO, dont forget that) intervene in north korea? syria? iran?

better leave now because you will never win this shit with weapons. the alliance was unable to reset afghanistan to its state before the taliban arrived.

I just hate the fact that their religion encompasses inequality to women and other nasty shit. You have to draw the line somewhere. Most religious folk in North America are subtle about it, unextreme. Their devotion and the whole "God is Great" chanting really freaks me out.

Its a religious text... what do you expect? It is something of great importance to a person. To a religion. To a nation. Of course they are fucking upset, stop being an idiot about it. All that I can say is maybe next time, be a little bit more mindful about how your destroying a holy text in a nation that basically lives by the fucking book.

Please explain to me how they mistreat women? If its in regards to the head coverings, and etc, you do understand that men have just as strict dress codes, and other laws that apply to them?

But oh, they are made to be servants to men!!

All women were like this up to like the fucking 80's, look at the country, its simply stuck a bit farther back into the past.
