So I think the glacier on the Grande Motte opened on September 29th and I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they have the park set up there and if it's any good? Also, is the glacier open from now right until the main season starts at the end of November? I'm in Grenoble and was wondering if it's worth making the trip? If anyone can tell me what will be happening on the glacier in Les Deux Alpes and when that would be appreciated as well.

matt how you doing! i got posted to tignes on my season at the end of october. by that point the big park they make for the summer was massively downgraded. i remember a 3 line of blues, maybe one kinda hip red and then say 5 box's. not extensive but still so sick to be up on the glacier when double m still dirt!

hi, tignes is open since end september but i think the candition are very bad and the park is maybe not made yet, I will maybe go there next week end. les deux alpes open only one week (24-31 october) before the real opening end of november, but there is a great park in les 2 alpes during the opening week in october. are you studing in grenoble?

have you already ski in france before to come in grenoble? les 7laux have one of the best park in france (I know it is not like in US but still good) where are you studing?
here you can see some recent pictures of tigneshttp://www.skipass.com/forums/enmontagne/stations_ski_france/sujet-105855-0.html#2028780
it dont look very nice...

yeah i lived in val d'isere for a season and i have skied lots in france before and after. i'm really looking forward to skiing in les7laux- the ho5 park sounds awesome, and i heard there is great freeride terrain there also. also i think i will be skiing often in chamrousse because i heard the sunset park is pretty good and it is so close i will be able to go after class in the afternoons. i guess i'll visit st pierre de la chartreuse, les2alpes and la grave quite a lot too. NIKEL!

i'm studying french at CUEF (stendhal)- do you live in grenoble?

I am studying in europe (Maastricht,Netherlands) right now. im looking for a place to get some early season turns/park shreding in before I head back to the states. sugestions?

i'm thinking about making a trip to switzerland this weekend to either saas fee or zermatt to ski the park- can anyone offer any advice on either place, where to stay, how the parks are etc? les diablerets isn't open til november.

hey if you want to ski in the fall

les diablerets is the place to go.

chalet budokan they have a rail park in the garden.

last year i went there i got a chance to session the rail park with Heinrik Harlault, phil C and Jf Houle.

fun times.

price is 20 euro a night.

the glacier opens the 31 i guess.

can anyone confirm that ?

The bad information provided in this thread blows my mind. Does anyone offering this advice actually ski in Switzerland?? Well, I have been skiing a lot recently and here's my take on things.

Les Diablerets / glacier 3000 is closed until the end of October or November depending on conditions. This is not a valid option right now.

Saas-Fee is very, very bad right now. If you wanna stand in line for 20 minutes for each run to ski a park that is not shaped and in terrible condition, be my guest.

The best conditions in Switzerland right now are in Zermatt. The park is shaped perfectly until the end of the month, and there's a park lift, so not much standing in line. The pipe is outstanding, breckenridge quality may I say. The kickers and rails are the usual European glacier standard. Like I sent in PM, the park in Zermatt is also accessible from Cervinia, which is cheap and easy to access. Probably the easy solution to everything.

Not of use to Rastafarider, but another great option in Switzerland is Stilfserjoch. The largest summer ski area in Europe and none of the Saas-Fee screaming people probably ever heard of it. Nice and quiet too.

thanks for all the help people, we're gonna hit up zermatt this weekend, if anyone has any tips about where to stay in zermatt or cervinia it would be much appreciated. might well make a trip to the demonium chalet in november some time, place sounds sick!
