Tiger vs. Lance, WTF!!

lance got his whole cycling crew with him when he rides, like 6-8 peolple, they do the toughest work for him, like bike first and brake the wind and push the crew to go faster...they usually dont make it to the finish but they have helped lance a lot, like if lances bike got problems they give their own bike to him and take the shitty bike and concede the race. u shoud give them some credit also.

lance= physically super fit

Tiger= Incredible Mental control

prolly half of u guys dont know how much it takes to play golf at the top

what i do respect about lance, is that when he wins he won't even touch the purse, he gives it all to his team to split up. (although he will make it back when he gets the wheeties box ect)

I don't understand how you guys can say Tiger. Your argument is that TIGER, has to have complete mental control, and needs to concentrate very hard. That's all good and whatnot, but I do believe Lance goes through the same thing. He's biking more miles than you've ever walked in your life. He's dealing with pain, and pressure from most of the world. His media coverage can easy tripple the amount that Tiger gets. So, on top of cycling these insane distances, up hills and all over, he needs to be just as focused as Tiger, if not more. I'm pretty sure he's not thinking about what to cook for dinner, or what he should wear tomorrow while he's riding.

first ^ no jack nicholas (spelling sucks) is but he won 18 or sumtin majors by the time he was 40 sumtin and had 10 when he was 34, tiger has 10 at 30, so he will be when his career is over.

If you think golf is as simple as hitting a ball around you are mistaken. It is a very hard sport that takes skill and concentration and if you actually know how hard the sport is you would appreciate Tiger's level of skill and the things he does. But its to hard to compare to totaly different sports.

 
Tigers completely and utterly dominanates in the sport and has done so for a number of years - in every aspect of the game. Forget about the cancer - Tom Green battled through the same type of it too... Lance Armstrong has dominated one race in the cycling world (albiet a 5,000K race) for the past 7 years. i don't think they're a fair comparison as in to compare golf to cycling - it's not going to happen. But, their impact on each sport I believe can be measured - and Tiger win's in that respect.

Tiger's still doing it and will continue to do it, and other players at that level will always be looking over their shoulders to see what he's doing.

 
golf takes a lifetime to master. you can play for 50 years and still be bad, it takes ridiculous discipline and stuff.

 
my 2 cents:

cycling: get in great shape, pedal alot, and hopefully be the best

golf: get in decent shape, hit ALOT, and still you won't be shit.

to compare them is impossible.

but i have tons more respect for lance beacuase i used to cycle and i would train forever and go ride a century(100 mile race) and be super stoked to do it in like 8 1/2 hours. and that took the life out of me for like two days. so in my opinion lance is the king of all.

whoever started this thread has obviously not payed golf. they are both incredible athletes and ive biked and golfed enough to know that sport illustrated was correct to put them in the same category, they unlike you have some knowledge of sports.

They should have a major competion between them. A bunch of events such as cycling and golfing... then the final event would be steel cage wrestling match to the death. Based on my experiences with black people, tiger would most like "stomp that mutha fucka out". Now that would be the real way to find out the better athlete.
