Tie dye. Yay or Nay?

There's a fine line between cool and really stupid when it comes to tie dye, but if tastefully done I enjoy it.
 
^agreed it needs to be done well. I have a tie die shirt with hendrix on the front, i know it sounds cliche but shits wicked old. one of my buddies who was an OFFICIAL dead head got it like 30 years ago and gave it to me, so i have to represent.

other than that i have mad plain white tight-fitting undershirts that i pretty much only wear underneath my scrubs. it would be really intense to wear em around town or whatnot.
 
anyone else remember those shirts that change color when you would get them wet ie brown to green or blue to pink. they were ill.
 
tie dye is freakin awesome. We've made them a couple of times. With a little creativity you can make some kick ass shirts. I made one that totally looked like a sunset on the ocean.
 
i'm rockin these next season if they're not too much $$$. the peace symbols in them might be a bit much though

i agree it has to be done well.

i tend to like it more with colors that aren't the classic line-up, you know, just a rainbow. dark blue and green and then a really strong yellow highlight or a bright pink...it's nice.
 
i vote yay, but i prefer tyedye thats a little atypical, not the standard tyedye you see all the time

yay, if you can do it yourself and it's not like every other tie dye you see on the street. for instance, i dyed a shirt once with the remains of the dye that i had, and it ended up being mostly white with a speckled spiral on it. i recommend trying it
 
nay as of recently, i've seen some kids with really dirty unwashed hair hippy like and way to many coulours, really didnt do it for me at all... i havent seen it tastfully done in a bit
