Happened to a friend in college back in 07. Lots of blood and screams.

Happened to me. Binding wasn't even mounted to the ski and was removed from my thumb with a bolt cutter. Good time, lots of screaming in pain, and a lovely trip to urgent care, 9/10 would recommend.
