Thread width

Is there a way you can create a rule which forces a hardline carriage return in your Readtopic.php4 file?

It seems some users insist on stretching the forum's width past the default through their sig files or messaging which makes it difficult to read (even with a maxed-out browser window at 1024 screen res).

I thought harvey changes this.. then the other day WHAM! I had to horizontally scroll.

What bothers me about this is that Harvey has designed the site to work in an 800 X 600 environment with the centre column ~500 px. So, it is well designed for reading quickly since there are slightly less than 100 characters (spaces included) across a line.

The usability degrades when someone stretches the table. It breaks the flow of the site design when moving from page to page. I think they do it simply because they can, and know it affects everybody's experience here. Same thing happens with images. Anybody knowledgeable enough to add images also knows they can fix the size to fit the allocated space. But they don't.

All I'm suggesting is a check-and-balance function.
