Thread Deletion

i don't know about anyone else, but it seems to me that the thread deletion has been getting a bit out of hand lately, and a lot of it is for no reason that i can see.

Granted, i remember reading that there are over 200 new threads daily, but it seems as though some of the ones that aren't even breaking any rules are being deleted. Also, where are the rules? i know that there used to be a FAQ page where i could read the rules, but now i can't find it anywhere.

Some of the threads that i would delete, simply for the reasons of being useless clutter (ie. threads that emulate other threads with some variables changed to present a sarcastic version, especially when there is already at least one other thread doing the same thing) are not being deleted, while other threads that present interesting stories with little or no offense to anyone here are being deleted left and right.

It is kind of annoying to read a thread, then go to post, only to find that the thread has been deleted, especially when the thread is no more than five minutes old, doesn't offend anybody in the topic or original post, and has a small number of harmless posts in it.

I think that we need to put up a new page outlining all the rules, something that can be easily found and referred to by all members, so that whatever rules may be getting broken can be cut down on, and so that mods can be questioned when a harmless thread is deleted. I don't want to seem like that guy who complains too much, but I just don't see how a lot of threads that are getting deleted can have any reason for getting deleted.

 
I almost agree and disagree at the same time.

I agree in that your argument is a good one and makes sense to me.

I disagree in that from my experience the mods have been doing fine and I haven't had any problems with their work.

On a side note, he's right; where is the FAQ page. Earlier tonight I was answering some thread about donators statuses and I remember the FAQ page had all the answers, and I couldn't find it...ironic, eh

Look, we're truly sorry if somewhere in the endless mires of bullshit you find something you can attach yourself to. On the whole, we have a lot of shit to try to make manageable. If for any reason you feel that your thread was deleted unfairly, or anything for that matter, PM a mod.

I will though anyway, just to note that it seems like the "lately" in "wow a lot of threads are getting deleted lately" occurs to someone every 2 months or so. That either means the rate of idiotic thread creation is constantly on the rise (a fair assumption) or everyone just always thinks they would do things differently if they had a delete button. That's great, but back in this reality for a minute, you don't. So like Rowen says, if you see something that should be deleted, PM us. If you're wondering why something was deleted, PM us but don't get your hopes up because there probably WAS a pretty good reason whether we're allowed to tell you about it or not.
 
We can't keep everyone happy obviously, and there will always be someone who feels hurt when threads are deleted. Quite often the majority of stuff we delete is either blatant crap, or reposts from elsewhere. Take a look at the list posted above and you can see that none of those offered anything worthwhile.

As for forum rules they are currently stickied at the top of this forum (right below the create thread button) as well as a slightly tounge in cheek version by rowen also stickied.

Like the guys have said, if you have a problem feel free to message any one of us, but really, these call out threads get made almost weekly, so please don't expect to start a revolution
 
now that i think about it, i'm probably just noticing the reposts getting deleted, without realizing they are reposts.
 
Hey, I liked the karma rape thread. It brought back memories of the kid who wanted to make the 10,000 karma cult.

But the "green four front" one was pointed out be me :)

I try to help when I see a worthless thread.
