what are your thoughts on respect NS?

I've got a story from tonight at work, but i want to see how this goes before telling.

The way i do it... i will respect you until you give me a reason not to. And once you give me that reason, the odds that i will ever respect you for anything ever again are minimal at best.
 
alright fine, since it seems like ns might agree with me, i will tell it.

Tonight at work, the game had ended and i was standing around with my other coworkers chatting waiting to be dismissed. It was pretty loud, and being that we'd all been there for more than 14 hours, we were pretty pumped to be done even though we've gotta be back in less than 12 hours.

So i'm standing there talking, and this gentlemen walks up to me, yelling at me about how i'm disrespecting him and ignoring him because he's black. Now keep in mind there's about 60 of us there, and none of us noticed him. So he gets in my face about how i'm a racist (never mind the fact that i spent the whole day working with a black bouncer at a bar, and i was currently talking to a few non-white employees when he came up) and how i'm disrespecting him. He then goes on for about 10 minutes about how he makes 4x more than i do because he works for the postal service. Finally with the help of others, we basically force him out of the park, all while he's still calling me a disrespectful racist.

About 10 minutes later, we're released, and i leave only to find this idiot standing out there waiting for me. Now im afraid that he's going to harm me, but no, he continues going on about how he makes so much more than me. Finally, i approach and get into a police car to get a ride back to my car (connections are sweet) and he finally backs off.

The whole situation really just pissed me off because this guy wanted to fight me because he's fucking retarded.

is it just me, or are the people who deserve the least respect the ones who always demand the most?
 
but if respect gets respect, someone has to respect the people with no respect so they'll respect. in all seriousness, agreed.

oh, and a sidenote-don't ever think that buying a ticket to a sports event guarantees you shit. And if you pull the "i paid good money to be here, and i'm not going to be pushed around by some kid making minimum wage" argument, you will almost always land on your ass when they throw you out in the most humiliating way possible.

For one thing, just about no sports team pays their employees min wage, and when you're being ejected, you can either go out quietly, or be paraded in front of 20,000 people. your choice.

nah, it was after the game so there wasn't too much we could to embarrass him other than kick him out. Some good fights tonight though. Why do people go to baseball games and get into fights? Like...really. Why?

met peter mcneeley too. for those who don't know, he's a boxer who got his ass kicked in less than 90 seconds by tyson. living proof that boxing takes a hell of a toll on you.
 
that type of comment is the type that gets you paraded.

i'm not saying i'm the end all, be all god of sports and policing, but the fact of the matter is that inside the stadium, we are in charge, so you do listen to what we have to say. And if you don't, then the police will handle you much worse than we will

I found out over the years, the people on NS are nicer than you think. When they get online, they perform a shit show...like 4chaners
 
More of a statement, but if you wanna quote it thats fine.

I participated at a couple of NS get togethers, I realized NSers are really cool people when they ski. I strongly recommend that we do more of them, and get more people out and get together. BTW the admins have really cool cottages!
 
I will be civil to anyone I meet, and friendly. I won't respect everyone I meet. Respect is earned, I don't hand that shit out willy-nilly.
 
This is one of my biggest pet peeves. People don't understand respect anymore, it's like they're retarded. There is a difference between respect and being friendly.
 
thats something i always figured had to be true. We all give each other a ton of shit about damn near everything on here, but in person most of us are probably quite similar and should get along fine.
