Thoughts on Kickstarter?

What are you guys thoughts on kickstarter? Is it something that was over done and kind of a waste of time now? Or is it something that people still find useful and cool when the right product comes along?
 
It's cool when it's used right. But the amount of times I've seen bullshit stories to cover somebody's wholesale order to alibaba etc is fucking absurd.

Even a couple years ago, some kid shared his or a friends watch making company. They had a whole essay about their grandfather making watches and teaching them which was likely all bullshit because the watches they were selling were all available for 1/10th the price on alibaba. Shit like that makes me sad. Mother fuckers have no shame, and no business skills. Let's hit people up for crowdfunding so we can sell bullshit for too much money. Fuck off.

I've seen it used for bands to make albums, people to finish LEGIT products though so I'm torn. I hate the bullshit Kickstarted almost as much as the gofundme fuckers. If they put a bullshit story and buy the product from china when they claim to make it, I kind of want to cut them.

You should start a kickstarter to help form an organization to end kickstarter.
 
Its a really awesome thing from a business standpoint.

It used to be really really difficult for a inventor to get a product to market. Companies spend tons of money bringing a product to market (or individuals that invest their life savings). Time spent on R&D, marketing and all that for it to just flop. It ended up being a bad idea or something went wrong during one of the phases.

Essentially you can skip all that crap in the middle or what could be called risk factors. People see what could be created. If they like it they put there money down and it gets created.

The spiteful side of me says stop being lazy fuckers and aim to build a business on your own feet rather than asking for money upfront online

The other side says, well, if it works and it's a half-decent product, then they're making easy money and I'm not, so who am I to complain
